🫂 Okay babe… can I be honest with you for a second??

I was journaling the other day, just thinking about how far I’ve come in my own health journey, and it hit me. I didn’t start in January.
I didn’t start when life was calm.
I didn’t start when everything felt perfect.

I started in the middle of the holidays when everyone, including me, kept saying, “I’ll just start next year.” (Did this for 4 years)

Starting during the holidays changed everything for me. It actually changed my life.

I used to do what you do. Wait until January, try to be good, set a big resolution, feel motivated for two weeks, then crash the moment real life kicked back in. Every single year.

But the one time I said “screw it, why not start now?” that was the moment everything shifted and I finally broke the cycle.

And I just want to gently call you out in the most loving way because I wish someone had said this to me earlier.

🛑 Waiting isn’t helping you. It’s keeping you stuck. 🛑

The relief when you can just let one go ya know? 😂

A little bit of gas is normal. You may experience some when eating beans 🫘 , lentils, whole grains, and certain vegetables 🥦 and fruits.

but A LOT OF gas is not.

Common reasons for excessive gas can be:

1. Food intolerances/allergies: try diet elimination to rid of this or take an MRT test.

1. Lactose/artificial sweeteners: Choose lactose free products and use natural sweeteners

2. Lifestyle Factors: Eating habits (like eating too fast, drinking carbonated beverages) and lifestyle factors (like stress) can contribute to increased gas 💨 production and gut issues.

3. Gut Flora Balance is off: The balance of bacteria in the gut (gut flora) is crucial for proper digestion. An imbalance can lead to excessive gas. This can be affected by diet, antibiotics 💊 , and other factors.

4. Gastrointestinal Infections: Infections in the gastrointestinal tract, caused by bacteria, viruses, or parasites, can disrupt normal digestion and lead to gas and other symptoms.

Treating excessive gas can pre a process if you are dealing with the latter two reasons. It can take your gut up to 1 year to recover from a round of antibiotics. 😲

Personally, it took my gut close to 6 months to recover from traveling in Peru. I did a stool test and followed a supplement protocol to balance mu gut.

After this experience I became obsessed with gut health and made it a very big part of our health coaching program at the Me, Myself, and Health Academy. 🤩

DO YOU RELATE? 😂

Most women I speak with are undereating and overweight.

Maybe it’s undereating during the day and overeating at night.

Maybe it’s undereating Monday through Friday afternoon but then over eating Friday evening through Sunday.

Either way, the inconsistency of calories throughout the day or week is a recipe for fat gain!

It’s also a recipe for mood swings, low energy, bloating, and lack of progress.

I was 1000% guilty of this myself. Monday through Thursday I was a “good girl”. And what I mean by good girl is I didn’t eat much.

Then Thursday through Sunday, was filled with dinners, drinks and a giant cheat day on Sunday while I was hung over.

My world changed once I started eating, roughly the same calories Monday through Sunday.

I gave my binge-eater self a nickname, PATRICIA. 😂

Maria would never do such a thing but PATRICIA would 😂😂

“I want to lose weight but I’m afraid of going to the gym and lifting weights because I don’t want to look bulky”

I get it. I used to think the same thing. And to be honest, there was a time where I was lifting weights, and I looked bulky. But it wasn’t weight training that made me look bulky.

It was the consumption of thousands of calories and inflammation from eating the wrong foods that made me look “bulky“.

You see, if you’re trying to lose weight and you’re in a caloric deficit it’s impossible for you to look like Helga, the strong Ukrainian woman. You would have to be pounding cupcakes and shooting testosterone to look like her.

If you lose weight by only doing cardio and being in a caloric deficit, you’re gonna end up looking like raw biscuit dough.

If you train with weights, you’re in a caloric deficit/at maintenance calories or even a slight surplus, you end up looking healthy and toned.

Girls, I’ve been pushing mad weight for 10 years. It’s mandatory if you want to have a lean physique and a metabolism that supports a fun lifestyle.

Sorry. No way around it.

Here is the workout I did today:

•Upper Body Mobility — 10 mins
•DB Seated Lateral Raises — 2 sets of 20
•Smith Machine Shoulder Press — 3 sets of 10, 8, 6
•Cable Tricep Pushdown — 3 sets of 10–12 + dropset to failure
•Lat Pulldown — 3 sets of 12
•Bicep Curls — 3 sets of 15
•Cable Rope Face Pulls — 3 sets of 12
•Lateral 7’s — 3 sets of 15

I train 3-4x a week and eat maintenance calories daily :)

I know you’re probably asking yourself “well how many calories do I need to eat then?”

It’s hard for me to say, since I don’t know your lifestyle and metabolism, but that’s what our coaching program is for. Our team will get to know you, your goals, and your metabolism and curate a personalized nutrition and movement plan.

POV: you’ve been trying to eat clean, but your metabolism keeps slowing down. 😱

This was me 10 years ago following a 1,200 calories Myfitnesspal diet full of lettuce and almond milk.

If you’ve been cutting calories, skipping carbs, and overdoing cardio… Congrats! You just enrolled in HOW TO RUIN YOUR METABOLISM 101 brought to you by the overworked, tired, high performing woman. 🤣💀

You’re not special, and you’re not broken. Your body is simply in survival mode. Chronic stress, too little food, poor sleep, and endless dieting tactics force your metabolism to downshift.

But don’t fret my little wannabe lean chickadees 🐥. You can absolutely fix your metabolism and it doesn’t take that long.

If you don’t have a strong WHY then you’ll be stuck losing and gaining the same 30 lbs over and over again.

You have to WANT to be healthy.
You have to RESPECT and HONOR yourself enough to put in work.
You have to WANT to show up long and present for those you love.

If you were responsible for your friend’s nutrition, would you give them less food than they needed?

If you were responsible for your friend’s nutrition, would you tell them to eat in access because they are stressed or dealing with icky feelings?

If they were feeling melancholy, would you suggest that they go for a walk outside? Or drown themselves in Netflix?

If they were overwhelmed at work, would you suggest that they get eight hours of sleep and return to work freshly rested? Or would you tell them to stay up all night and get work done?

It’s easy to give our friend’s the best advice but often we don’t follow our own. We treat ourselves like s**t. We don’t respect our own body. We harm ourselves over and over again and then blame the outside world for the way we look and feel.

Your body shape and health is a direct representation of the lifestyle that you live and the amount of self respect you have.

So take a look at yourself, what does your body tell you about the relationship you have with yourself?

I’m so thankful that my mindset shifted from the gym being a drag to the gym being exciting 💕

As soon as I landed, I got eight hours of sleep and the first thing that I wanted to do was some weights!

Nothing beats the post workout glow ✨

And to think a decade ago that the gym used to scare me. I would literally just go on the treadmills and go home. I had no idea what I was doing, and I didn’t want to look stupid trying to figure it out.

After working with a trainer and coach for a year, I felt pretty confident around 12 weeks in!

Now I get to train and whatever country I’m in. And that makes me really happy.

For those of you who have gym intimidation, I promise you it will go away.

You just need repetitions and a plan to teach you how to move your body 💕.

I had the honor of spending time with my German client Rebecca in August!

She was my first stop on my international tour de clients.

After Rebecca worked with us she felt so inspired by her change that she got her own group fitness instructor certification. She now leads women through workouts in Munich! 😍

This is the type of mentality we strive to create in the program. Not the “I just want to lose 15 lbs” mentality but the “I love being healthy and I want to help others do the same“ mentality.

That can be done by encouraging someone to eat more protein, inviting them to do a yoga class with you, or even reminding them that setting loving boundaries will help their stress levels.

We LOVE it when our clients help their own communities. This means the education in the mindset coaching done in the program has really resonated. 🥹

After spending 6 intimate months together over zoom it always feels surreal seeing them in person. PINCH ME!

She cooked me a healthy meal (one that I would cook 🥹), dined at a few restaurants, drank some mocktails, and then enjoyed beer and pretzels at a beer garden!

Next year… we are going to try and tackle Octoberfest 😈.
