We are looking for individuals that have unique talents to offer beyond the traditional role of a behavioral health technician/recovery coach. Our program offers clients many opportunities to join in and participate in activities that help during their journey to recovery and ongoing coping skills. We are looking for individuals that bring specialized talents such as music, arts, yoga and much more that would be interested in running group activities to help make our clients addiction recovery meaningful and fulling through the use of a variety of programs.

What is the first step to beat my addiction?

This is often a question many have when they're struggling with addiction. You want to know the good news? Just asking yourself this is often completing the first step which is admitting you have an addiction. People often feel that addiction is a myth and they can quit any time they want so admitting this is a huge first step.

The next real step is making the decision to change. Once you make that decision set a goal for yourself. It can be as small as cutting back slowly or as big as reaching out to a treatment center. This is also considered the contemplation stage because it will take you time to think about what you want, which is totally fine. You need to figure out what you want and what works best for your circumstance.

If you've done these two things than you're off to a great start and are further along in your recovery than you imagine. Keep pushing forward with your goals. “The great thing in this world is not so much where you stand, as in what direction you are moving.” This quote from Oliver Wendell Holmes is a reminder that no matter where you are in your life at this very moment, you can always create a better world for yourself as long as you work for it.

Nothing in this life comes easy. This is especially true when it comes to your recovery. It's not easy. It will take work day in and day out but that work is worth it. The good news is that work will become apart of you. You'll stop noticing the "work" and you'll start noticing the progress you've made. One step at a time. One day at a time. You can do it.

Life can be stressful and chaotic at times. How can we return balance to our lives?

One way we can help ease our minds and focus on our recovery is through meditation. Not only does meditation reduce stress and clear your mind but doing so will help balance out the rest of your body. Everything from you brain to heart to stomach.

Brining balance back to your life should be a priority. Adding 15 minutes of meditation to your daily routine is a small change that will have huge a impact. Even just waking up a little earlier to get a meditation in before you start your day will make a huge difference.

It's no secret that many people who struggle with addiction also suffer from mental health issues but did you know your daily routine can actually help improve those issue?

Studies have shown that a routine designed around improving your brain health can help improve not just some mental health issues but also addiction related issues. Here are 6 things you can do every day that will help improve your brain health.

1. Eat Healthy food

Often times people ask what the key to a successful recovery is and that's not always easy to answer. There are many things that can contribute to a successful recovery. It can be a routine, healthy lifestyle, therapy sessions, and a supportive community. The last one is exactly what Grammy winner Macklemore attributes his recovery to.

Macklemore has always been up front about his journey and has become an advocate for recovery. Back in 2014 he did an interview that talked about how he started his journey and what helped him the most. "In terms of recovery, it has been very important for me to be a part of a recovery community, to actively be around my people because they understand me. They get it."

“Where does the motivation to change my life really come from?” Ultimately it stems from wanting to change our lives for the better. Change is so hard sometimes that we see it as a threat-- it’s costly, time-consuming, and damaging to our reputation.

Let’s focus on the positive aspects of change. Change can really build our strengths because it allows us to get out of that comfort zone and grow. We develop self-worth, self-esteem, and resilience as we become more adaptable. When we meet change with a positive attitude, we learn to let go of our set ways and become flexible. That alone is freeing.

My grandmother used to tell me when I was a child that I need to embrace all the changes that are coming in my life. She said to me that instead of trying to resist change by focusing on what’s different, think of it as a new opportunity.

What is a typical day in a treatment center like?

We want to keep you active, structured, & on the right path to help in your recovery. Whether that's through working out, therapy sessions, or just watching a movie. We do our best to make your recovery a success.

We want to help you create structures in your life to keep you away from the risk of relapse. Part of that structure is about creating healthy habits and routines. According to a 2012 study published in the British Journal of General Practice, habits are “actions that are triggered automatically in response to contextual cues that have been associated with their performance.” So when you get into your car, what is the first thing you do? You put on your seat belt without even thinking about it. We like habits because habits are efficient. Habits are about automating common actions, and when we have the ability to do that, we free up mental resources for other tasks.

We can learn a thing or two from lobsters. How you ask? Well it comes down to how they grow.

A lobster is a soft mushy animal that lives inside of a rigid shell. That rigid shell does not expand. As the lobster grows, that shell becomes very confining. The lobster feels itself under pressure and uncomfortable. It casts off the shell and produces a new one. Well eventually that shell becomes very uncomfortable as it grows and the lobster repeats this numerous times.

The short story is that significant growth can come from adversity. Growth can often require you to cast off things that are incredibly important to you. These things (or people) might have been important at one time — this process is scary and painful but necessary for growth.
