Holy Thursday is a day that teaches us the heart of the
Eucharist, self-giving love expressed in service.
On Holy Thursday, Jesus, the only son of God, shared his final Passover meal with his disciples, transforming bread and wine into his Body and Blood.
"While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
-Mathew 26: 26-29
Jesus commanded his disciples, "Do this in remembrance of me," establishing the sacrament of Holy Communion and the ordained priesthood.
Jesus washed his disciples feet as an act of humility and service to them.
"If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do" John 13:14-15
Yesterday, on Holy Thursday, as an act of service to our precious and greatly loved kiddos at the clinic, our BCBA Amanda Carlin, washed their feet and we prayed for them to be blessed.
