HUNT on the floor of the Louisiana House of Representatives! 🚫🦟 Reese "Skip" Broussard State Representative District 37
Weekly Recap:
Monday we were off due to Easter. I attended a preconstruction meeting for the service road at the Town of Welsh with Mayor Karl Arceneaux, a couple of folks representing Myers and Associates engineering and a representative from Apeck- the company doing the work. The work will began May 18th and should take about 300 days to complete phase one.
Tuesday started with breakfast at the Gov. apartment. It was Dad’s Day at the capitol. It was great to see all the dads and be able to visit with many of them. We had a transportation committee meeting before attending session. I also had dinner with the transportation committee.
Wednesday was Alzheimer’s Day and Homeless awareness day at the Capitol. There was an education meeting before lunch with Big Brothers Big Sisters. I learned that the graduation rate is well over 90% and the majority of those go to college, how awesome is that! I went to session as well as had dinner with the agriculture committee.
Thursday, I went to an Agriculture meeting then session. On the Floor, we passed a bill which does not allow a criminal to serve on a jury, now it will go to the Senate to become a law. A bill was also passed lowering the required hours for a plumber to get a journey man’s or master plumber’s license- which should help those who wish to become a licensed plumber. They will still have to pass the same test as before to show they are knowledgeable- just get less hours. Session didn’t end until 6pm that day.
Friday I went to work at my business before going to my office in Jennings to catch up and meet with people.
Saturday I went to the airshow in Jennings. There were hundreds of people enjoying the planes, it was cool to see! The planes came from all over the United States. What a great event those guys put on for our community to enjoy.
