Because of strong advocacy efforts across the industry, H.R. 7148 has now been signed into law, officially ending the partial government shutdown and funding the government through September 30, 2026.

Most importantly for our therapy teams, the bill includes a two-year extension of telehealth authority, allowing PTs, OTs, and SLPs to continue providing services via telehealth nationwide through December 31, 2027.

We’re grateful for the voices that helped make this possible, and we’ll continue advocating for policies that protect access to care and support the work you do every day.

Telehealth flexibilities have expanded access to physical, occupational, and speech therapy, especially for Medicare beneficiaries in rural and underserved communities. Without Congressional action, these vital provisions will expire on January 30, 2026, limiting remote care and disrupting continuity for patients.
