Being a massage therapist is such a wonderful blessing. I had the privilege of working on my 2 most important clients today, my mother and father. Approaching their mid-70s they are finally taking serious the words, 'prevention is key. ' No serious injuries at the moment but between both of them they've probably had most operations known to mankind. Mom's always cervical and upper back tightness and after 4 or 5 botched surgeries, dad, on his low back stays a ball of tension.
I thought to myself during the session, 'Wow! I'm a lucky Man to still have my parents alive and mostly healthy. I'm an extremely blessed man that has the privilege to be 1 of 3 sons, and be able to physically HELP their aches and pains! All the years of discomfort and struggle, technique styles, ups, downs, good and bad, i still get to lay my hands on them and assist their body in relieving pain in their course of life. Im almost borderline at a lack of words to how special and how much of a privilege that is! Ill never be able to thank them enough or be able to express how wonderful they truly are and how much I appreciate them raising me in the way they did........ WITH LOVE.
Mom left in disbelief, 'ive gotta start coming in at least once a month, because my backs not even hurting anymore!' Dad exclaimed, 'is this even My back, right now?' Ill never be able to give back all the blessings I've received in this lifetime, but I can start being even more present in my profession and personal life and more grateful in all aspects of my life. Thanks again Mom and dad for everything, especially in 2005 when I asked the question, 'what should I go back to school for?' They answered, 'well, you enjoy helping people and you've got strong, big hands, so we think either nursing, or massage therapy. ' At times I'm my life, I've been known for my hard headedness and stubbornness, but this time, way back when, I listened.
