Charles “Charlie” Van Camp, born on December 13, 1955, to Dolores and Robert Van Camp, passed away on November 8, 2025. He was one of four children and is survived by his mother, Dolores; brother, Robert; and sister, Tina. His sister, Gena, preceded him in death.
He is also survived by his former wife, Donna Higginbotham, and their children, Charles Van Camp Jr. (Wendy) and Frances Van Camp (Howard); as well as grandchildren, Stephen and Matthew.
In addition, he is survived by his former wife, Deborah Stapf-Van Camp, and their children, Sara A. Cuevas (Antonio), Jennifer Dishman (William), and Nicholas Van Camp. His grandchildren include Gabriel, Sara L., Reese, Juliann, and Beau from Sara A. Sulley, along with another grandchild on the way from Jennifer.
A proud Florida native, Charlie was raised in North Miami Beach, where he owned and operated a lawn mower repair shop. In 1988, he moved to Deltona, where he worked diligently as a heavy equipment operator for the Seminole County Road Division, delivered pizzas for Domino’s, and later retired as a truck driver from the Volusia County Schools Sanitary Department.
Charlie enjoyed farming, caring for animals, and taking family road trips, often bringing his son Nic along wherever he went. For many years, one of his greatest dreams was to move to Jennings, Florida, and enjoy a peaceful life in the country. In the final two months of his life, he was able to fulfill that dream, spending precious time with his daughter and grandchildren, surrounded by love and the sounds of Conway Twitty and George Strait.
He loved his children, grandchildren, and family deeply; they were the most important part of his life.
