Experience Calm with Ear Reflexology:

I am sure that you are familiar with foot reflexology. Well, did you know that the ear has a similar reflex zone system where the whole body is mapped on the ear.

The ear system is based on the anatomical image of an inverted fetus where the earlobe mirrors the head, the hard cartilage in the center of the ear mirrors the spine and the inner cavity of the ear are where the internal organs are found.
There are hundreds of points on the ear.

THESE TWO ACUPRESSURE POINTS ARE AMAZING FOR STRESS AND ANXIETY RELIEF.

Point Zero: is actually the geometrical and physiological center point on the ear. It reduces stress, calms anxiety and depression and reduces inflammation. It also has a regulatory effect on the brain and hormones. Point zero is excellent in centering the body and reduces the feeling of being scattered.

Shenmen: Calms the mind and spirit. Reduces stress, anxiety and depression. Relieves pain and reduces inflammation. It also centers and grounds the body.

In my acupuncture clinic little square Band-Aids with a small round pellet are placed on these points to provide constant calming stimulation.

The little Band-Aids can also be pressed or rubbed 5 to 10 times per day (or as required) for 10 to 60 seconds each time to magnify the effect and reduce symptoms. The Band-Aids normally adhere to the ear for anywhere from 3 to 5 days. They can also be purchased online and at Amazon for home use.

Alternatively, the Band-Aids are technically not even required, and someone can just press and massage these same points with their thumb and index finger to provide self treatment through the ancient use of acupressure.

In my clinic, I commonly use the ear points with the “bandaid seeds” to relieve stress, anxiety, depression, weight loss, curbing cravings, stop smoking, addiction cessation as well as dizziness and vertigo relief.

CASE STUDY LEFT ANKLE PAIN:

(medial, lateral and anterior) with swelling. Pain was a constant 7/10 on the pain scale. Onset 3 weeks ago with first treatment two days after injury.

Acupuncture and Moxibustion treatment are depicted here on a 40 year old male patient with ankle joint and achilles pain due to a twisted ankle causing pain, swelling and limited range of motion.

Acupuncture and Moxa (herbal heat treatment) are fantastic in reducing ankle and (all joint pain), stiffness and swelling by increasing circulation, improving range of motion and functionality.

Patient’s pain reduced by 50% after the first treatment. And after the third treatment, patient reported he had no pain on walking or standing, but only with full range activities such as during stair or hill climbing then he felt an intermittent 3-5/10 pain. Patient should be fully recovered with one more acupuncture and moxa treatment!!

ACUPUNCTURE PULSE TAKING

Did you know that Traditional Acupuncture pulse taking is very different from Western pulse taking.

Western pulse taking only counts pulse “speed” in beats per minute.

In traditional acupuncture pulse taking there are 12 total pulses that correspond to each of the 12 Meridian / energy lines which also communicate with each of the 12 internal organs. Each pulse is named after one of the internal organs and its associated Meridian/energy line.

There are three finger positions on each wrist and with different depths of pressure the 12 pulses can be diagnosed to give the recipient a specific treatment based on their individual findings and diagnosis.

The 12 Pulse Pairings:

Lung/ Large Intestine
Stomach/ Spleen
Kidney yang / Pericardium
Heart / Small Intestine
Liver / Gallbladder
Kidney yin / bladder

If your acupuncturist is not providing this type of pulse reading, you are only getting a symptomatic treatment and not a full body balancing specific to your body’s energetic imbalances and “dis-eases”.

The Daoist tradition speaks of “living in the moment” and staying “in the flow”. That means acknowledging all the gifts that “present” in your life minute by minute. Yesterday we had stopped for a quick break in a courtyard in Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. We were approached by a photographer, Martin, who asked us if we had the time to be the witnesses in a wedding. Traveling all the way from California unbenounced to us, to be the “best man” and “maid of honor” on the fly at someone’s wedding. What an honor we thought. Timing was kind of tight, as we had to be at the castle tour in about one hour. But we figured we had enough time. We witnessed Jane and Graham’s wedding as “best man and maid of honor” and met world famous bagpiper Roddy the Piper. Look him up and follow! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️
