Tantrums, outbursts, defiance, fighting: These are all things kids do when they can't control powerful emotions. Learn how to help kids calm down before frustration, fear or anger builds into explosive behavior. Emotional regulation is a skill some kids need to be taught.

Just wanted to give some tips on staying home with your kids.

Parents, you have to take care of yourselves. This means deep breathing, any exercise or just taking a break in another room. When you are calm you can help your children remain calm and regulated.

Everybody is adjusting to changed schedules, home schooling , and overall anxiety regarding the virus. You have to acknowledge your own feelings before you can be calm and comforting towards your children.

Don’t be shocked or disappointed if your children’s behavior regresses or gets worse. It’s not uncommon for this to occur. Children feel their parents stress, miss school and friends and get cabin fever. It won’t be like this forever.

If you want extra help I offer telehealth sessions. This can be for mom’s groups, individual therapy or PCIT ( parent-child interaction therapy). Let me know how I can help.
