"Thank you". Two simple words that together can be immeasurable in their meaning. That's how we feel at Arbor Village and Village Glen. We are so thankful for all of our residents, their families, our staff, volunteers, entertainers, program leaders, hairdressers, and community we are honored to serve. We are also grateful for Pastor Paul who reminded us this week to be thankful for the big things and well as the little things as Tom Stanfield restated with his songs of thanks. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone. And to all who bring joy and meaning to the lives around them, thank you. 🙏

Honoring those who served and sacrificed for us all, we dedicated this week to our beloved veterans living at Arbor Village and Village Glen. A little trickery made for bigs treats on Halloween at Arbor Village and Village Glen! We welcomed the goblins from Little Sprouts Day Care at Immanuel Lutheran Church who absolutely brought the fun and frights with their excitement and costumes. All our residents and staff loved having our spirited, little guests share their day with us. From all the shrieks and smiles you could say we care about getting a great scare! 🎃👻.

This week the apple of our eye is Oscar Hafs. He's the reason Hafs Apple Orchard is one of our favorite places to visit in the fall. Oscar planted the original orchard in the 1930s on 12 acres, and there are still 11 of the original trees at the orchard.

In 1982 Richard and Debbie Polansky purchased the orchard and are still the current owners. Hafs is known for their no frills orchard in a beautifully quaint and rural setting. In 1992, they decided to invest in a certain apple…honey crisp! Which is the apple they are now known for! They have 45 varieties offered at the orchard. And all of their apples are hand picked and go through their sorting machine which polishes them. Then each and EVERY apple is individually inspected.

BTW, The Wolf river apple is a HUGE APPLE!

Special thanks to Kimmie and Yuta for making us all feel so special. And, of course, to Richard and Debbie for their hospitality and time they take with us each year. They, too, will always remain the apples of our eye. 🍎 🙏
