Curious about midwifery care? Join us for the first Meet the Midwives of the year and meet our team in person!

HSC Lecture Hall 2 (Stony Brook Hospital)
Please park in the Visitor Lot and enter through the Main Entrance. Our security staff can help direct you to the lecture hall.

• A tour of Triage, Labor & Delivery, and Postpartum

Please join us for our in-person Meet The program on Thursday, 2/5/26, 7-8PM at HSC Lecture Hall 2 (Stony Brook Hospital). You will get an opportunity to participate in a Q & A session, and become more comfortable by touring our Triage, Labor and Delivery and Postpartum rooms. It is a great way to be informed and get to know us! At this time, the program is limited to birthing parents only, and siblings are not permitted. No registration is required.

*Enter the Main Visitor parking lot. (Stony Brook Hospital)
Park in the Visitor lot and go through the Main Entrance. Our security staff can provide you with precise directions to get to the Lecture Hall.

This week we’re shining a light on Susan Liang, a calm, steady presence, always genuine and intentional in the care she provides.

👩🏻‍⚕️ How long have you been a midwife at Stony Brook?
4 years! I also completed clinical rotations as a student with the Stony Brook Midwives.

🌟 Tell us something most patients don’t know about you!
In the words of my oldest, “we’re a Disney family” (if you couldn’t tell already from the pictures). My little one has already been on two Disney cruises and she’s not even 1.5 years old yet! I am not a runner, but I ran my first (and only) half marathon in Disney World.

💭 What’s a memory with a patient that makes you smile?
My very first delivery! It was her first baby and she did amazing.

🤩 What’s your favorite part of working with the Stony Brook Midwives team?
The camaraderie and support we have as a team. There’s always someone to help with either work or personal things.

📝 Do you have a favorite quote or mantra that guides you?
You are only given what you can handle.

👩🏽‍🏫 What was your first job?
I worked at an afterschool/tutoring center throughout high school. My wages paid for one semester of college tuition with room and board.

🍭 Sweet or salty snacks?
A mix of both!

📺 What’s the last show you binge-watched?
The Summer I Turned Pretty, but I always have Friends on at home and can rewatch it over and over again.
