👋Welcome to Part 1 of my 6-Part Series: How the Spine Moves!

As an athlete—or someone who just moves hard—your spine is your power center.

In this series, we’ll break down how your bones, discs, and nerves work together to keep you explosive, stable, and injury-resilient.

Whether you’re lifting, running, skating, cleaning your house, or even competing
understanding your spine is step one to staying strong and pain-free.

Did you know that intuition plays a big role in your life? It also plays a role in your health.

Our intuition is made up of our neurology, fascia, and extracellular matrix. It's the brain's ability to process a multitude of information between the brain and body unconsciously--leading to a "sense" in the body.

Learn to listen to your intuition. If something feels off, there very well may be a reason for it. There is always another option when it comes to health. Trust your instincts.

When your core doesn’t activate in the right order, everything above and below it pays the price.

If your diaphragm isn’t contracting down, your body recruits accessory muscles to breathe. The pelvic floor then tightens and rises, and your deep stabilizers — like the transverse abdominis and multifidi — shut off.

That’s when your bigger back and hip muscles start taking over. The problem? Those larger muscles weren’t built for fine stability — they’re movers, not stabilizers.

So now your “chip can” is open — pressure escapes, movement patterns break down, and you’re more likely to deal with low back pain, hip issues, shoulder strain, or poor performance.

When your core functions properly, your diaphragm drops, your pelvic floor lengthens, and your spine locks in with 360° support. That’s when you move powerfully and safely — transferring force from your lower body up through your upper body with ease.

Think of your core as a can of stability :canned_food: — your diaphragm is the top, your pelvic floor is the bottom, and your deep core muscles wrap around to form the sides.

For your spine to be stable (and for your core to be truly strong), all of these parts have to work together and in the right order.

When your pelvic floor is too tight, it pushes pressure upward — tilting your diaphragm and throwing off your breathing and muscle activation.
When your diaphragm isn’t moving properly, it can’t pressurize the “can” — and that lack of stability can lead to compensations, pain, and even performance loss.

Stability starts with awareness — not strength.
When you learn how to breathe, engage, and “lock in” your spine, you set the foundation for every lift, stride, and daily movement.

Follow along as I teach you more about how your core really works and what happens when the system breaks down. 👇

Most people think a “strong core” means doing endless crunches — but your core is way more than abs.

Your deep core muscles (like your transverse abdominis and multifidi) act like a 360° support system — stabilizing your spine the way a can holds its shape under pressure.
When these muscles don’t activate properly, your body compensates — leading to poor movement patterns, instability, and even injury.

Whether you’re an athlete chasing performance or just want to move without pain, proper core activation is key.

👉Follow us on our newest series to break down how your core anatomy really works, what true stability looks like, and what happens when that system fails. 👇

We tend to want to exercise the "right" way, that sometimes we miss the point of exercise: to move.

Yes workout programs, design and form play a role in specific goals and injury prevention. Yet if we limit ourselves to a strict workout regime, we tend to miss movement as a whole body experience.

Our body needs to move in multiple directions and speeds for overall health of our brain, fascia and other tissues. Many regimented workouts miss multidirectional and varied movement.

An easy way to add it in? Mobility, dance, walking, yoga, stretching or simply just letting your body move in an intuitive way for a few minutes.

Your brain, fascia and lymph will thank you!

Our final (and most important) labral video: Why we rehab it!

Dr. Mosure finds that extremity adjustments through the kinetic chain are one of the best tools to use to aid in labral tear rehabs. Adjusting the spine only can help, but it's important to treat the entire body, so that the joint will sit correctly, there will be proper tension in the body to hold the joint there, and the brain will sense proper position between the joint and tissues so your muscles will fire correctly.

We think Dr. Mosure's approach to chiropractic care is vital to any rehab approach for labral tears: surgical, nonsurgical, or via exercise. The brain must know the proper position and sensory information in order to heal and function normally.

Part 2 of our labral series: What is an actual labral tear? Dr. Mosure likes to use gelatin as an example. Keep in mind for many just having the tear is not a source of pain or dysfunction. It's when parts of the joint catch on pieces of the fraying tear and pull on it that it becomes painful. That's why you could go a long time without pain, but move just the right way and feel a catch.

The important part is that if you can get the movement corrected, the chances of catching a piece of the fraying labrum are reduced--this means you are less likely to have repeated episodes of pain when you move well.

Let us help! Dr. Mosure specializes in proper movement of the whole body.

Did you know proper movement and joint proprioception can help you become pain free, even with a labral tear? Surgery is not the only option.

Did you know there are over 200 different chiropractic techniques? Chiropractic is a combination of art, philosophy and science. This means there's a lot of variation between each chiropractor, even if they do the same technique!

If you aren't happy with the results you are getting with your current chiro, consider trying a different one. Don't give up on the profession as a whole. Talk to doctors your trust, and find the one who can point you in the right direction.

If you’ve been curious about how chiropractic care could help you move, feel, and function better — we’d love to show you the difference. Schedule your visit today and experience care designed around you.

đŸŽ„ Welcome to Part 3!
If you missed Parts 1 and 2, go back and watch those first — we talked about why your body moves like fruit in Jell-O and how your extremities play a huge role in that movement. 🍒

Now we’re zooming in on the wrist — one of the most complex joints in your body.
Each tiny bone is suspended in tension, not just stacked together. When even one twists out of alignment, it changes how you grab, lift, or push — and that imbalance can ripple all the way up the chain.

That’s why true recovery isn’t just about chasing pain. It’s about restoring tension and motion through the entire system, from the inside out.

Part 2ïžâƒŁ — let’s talk wrists 👋 and feet 👣

Most people think of them as single units — one “foot bone” or one “wrist joint.” But each is a network of tiny bones and connective tissues constantly balancing tension.

Your fascia, ligaments, and muscles act like guidewires holding those arches and joints in position. When one area twists or loses its tension — maybe from your hip, ankle, or even how you walk — it can torque everything downstream.

That’s why plantar fasciitis, wrist pain, or recurring tightness usually isn’t about one sore spot. It’s about how the whole chain is managing load and motion.

Stay tune for Part 3 of the Extremity Motion Series as I keep unpacking how your body’s tension system keeps you stable, strong, and pain-free.
