Naturopathic Medical Doctors undergo a rigorous medical education at one of the seven fully accredited North American Naturopathic Medical Schools. The first two years of education mirror a traditional Western medical education in terms of the biological sciences: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology and Medical Diagnosis. The last two years are clinical training, working hands-on with patients in a variety of clinical settings. These years focus on natural methods of healing, including nutrition, vitamin therapy, herbalism, homeopathy and physical/structural medicine, as well as Western pharmacology when indicated. Our clinic is also licensed in Washington.

Gut health plays a central role in how your body functions day to day. The gastrointestinal tract houses a complex community of microbes (the gut microbiome) that assist with nutrient absorption, production of vitamins and neurotransmitters, regulation of the immune system, and control of inflammation. Growing clinical research links disruptions in this system (dysbiosis) with symptoms such as fatigue, mood changes, skin conditions, and increased susceptibility to illness, making a well-functioning gut a key pillar of whole-body wellness.

At Lake Oswego Health Center, we believe in a comprehensive, whole-person approach to health that begins with supporting the gut. Your digestion, mood, energy, skin, and immunity are all connected, and when your gut is in balance, your whole body feels the difference.

Our integrative approach focuses on uncovering root causes, using evidence-informed therapies, and guiding you toward sustainable, whole-body wellness. 🌿

Our providers are here to support your wellness journey.

As daylight decreases, shifts in circadian rhythm begin to influence cortisol regulation, metabolism, and immune function. These physiological changes explain why fatigue, carbohydrate cravings, and mood fluctuations often become more common during the colder months.

Colder weather also limits natural vitamin D production and reduces outdoor activity, both of which can impact hormone balance, energy metabolism, and immune strength. The body works harder to maintain stability as environmental conditions change.

We are here to help you navigate this seasonal transition with care and intention, supporting your body’s natural ability to adapt through balanced nutrition, restorative practices, and personalized wellness strategies that promote long-term health and balance.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. This process allows oxygen to dissolve more effectively into your bloodstream, helping it reach areas with limited circulation or slower healing.

Increased oxygen levels support new tissue growth, decrease inflammation, and enhance your body’s natural recovery process.

Treatments are comfortable, noninvasive, and can support recovery from injury, surgery, or chronic conditions.

Your body has an internal system designed to repair and restore itself, regulated by a key cellular pathway called Nrf2. When activated, Nrf2 turns on antioxidant defenses, reduces inflammation, and supports cellular recovery.

Research shows that ozone therapy naturally stimulates the Nrf2 pathway through a mild oxidative challenge, encouraging cells to adapt, repair, and enhance mitochondrial function for improved energy production and overall cellular resilience.

Degeneration of the intervertebral discs is one of the most common causes of chronic low back pain, often driven by oxidative stress and persistent inflammation.

Research published in the Journal of Inflammation Research (Grangeat & Erario, 2023) highlights how medical ozone can act as both an etiological and conservative treatment, helping the body address disc degeneration at its root.

By regulating oxidative stress through Nrf2 pathways and guiding inflammatory macrophages (M1) toward tissue-repairing M2 states, ozone therapy supports natural healing within the intervertebral space. These effects make it a promising option for those seeking to relieve pain, restore mobility, and slow disc deterioration without invasive procedures.

Poor circulation and chronic inflammation often share a common root: oxidative and endothelial damage that disrupts how blood flows and cells receive oxygen.

A 2010 study published in Cardiovascular Diabetology found that ozone therapy helped reduce these markers in an experimental diabetes model, showing measurable improvements in vascular function and antioxidant balance.

By restoring nitric oxide levels, enhancing antioxidant capacity, and reducing harmful free radicals, medical ozone supports healthy circulation and cellular resilience. These effects make it a valuable therapy for those looking to address inflammation, fatigue, and tissue repair from the inside out.

Ozone therapy has shown remarkable potential in supporting healthy glucose metabolism and protecting the body from oxidative stress, two key factors in diabetes management and long-term metabolic health.

Research published in Pharmacological Research (Bocci & Re, 2005) demonstrated that medical ozone helps improve how the body uses glucose, enhances insulin sensitivity, and activates the body’s own antioxidant defenses like glutathione. This dual action not only supports balanced blood sugar but also protects tissues from the cellular damage often linked with chronic inflammation.

Co-authored by one of our favorites, Dr. Lamberto Re, this study highlights how ozone therapy can work alongside conventional treatments to help the body restore balance, energy, and resilience from within.

Research published in Free Radical Biology & Medicine (Hernández et al., 1995) found that patients recovering from heart attack who received endovenous ozone therapy had lower total cholesterol and LDL, along with stronger antioxidant enzyme activity that protects cells from oxidative stress.

By improving lipid balance and activating enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase, ozone therapy supports cardiovascular and metabolic health—helping reduce the risks linked to elevated cholesterol and oxidative damage.

For those focused on heart health and longevity, ozone therapy offers a clinically supported way to strengthen the body’s natural defenses and complement conventional care.
