The S charter is our Stationary Engineers (and where the IUOE got it's start, hence the steamgauge logo).
These men & women are responsible for the mechanical systems that keep buildings healthy & safe for their inhabitants (hospitals, hotels, the zoo, etc). Many of our Engineers hold city boiler licenses to maintain the mid- and high- pressure boilers.
Most of Local 17's women engineers work for the Buffalo Schools, keeping them clean and healthy for the students & staff.
