Kayla is still fighting SO hard to live, so we will continue to fight for her. She started to show an interest in food, and she managed to stand up for a bit when the ER nurse came to take her picture. She is still alive, but is far from being stable enough to survive outside the oxygen chamber. Right now all we know is she needs to stay in there for at least another 24 hours, with constant monitoring and medications. There are no words for how grateful we are for all the love and support you have shown her, but we still need everyone to PLEASE keep donating and spreading the word until this pneumonia (hopefully) turns a corner. Oct 8, AM: Kayla held on through the night. Her doctors are calling it a miracle. The heavy duty (extremely expensive) antibiotics and the oxygen chamber are what's keeping her alive right now. We will find out more soon, but we still DESPERATELY need EVERYONE's help to continue our emergency fundraising so she can stay at the specialty hospital to get her through this pneumonia which has almost completely filled both lungs. PLEASE AND THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!

Oct 7, PM: Today Kayla's torture ended. Someone saw her starving to death, tied to the outside of a garage, and they put a stop to it. Waukegan Police Animal Control were called, and Kayla was immediately removed from the premises and taken to the emergency hospital, because not only was she barely able to stand, she was struggling to breathe. Tonight she is in the ER, fighting with every single breath to stay alive long enough for us to help her get through a horrific case of pneumonia. Both of her lungs are almost completely full. Euthanasia was considered for a moment, but we cannot end her life without giving her a chance, one day, or maybe even one hour at a time, to know a kind hand and to make it through this nightmare, to live the only life she has. PLEASE share, and PLEASE help if you can. Thank you!!!
