When I woke up yesterday and prepared for my drive to the city for my checkup I wasn’t expecting it to be as emotional as it was. Meeting with Dr Ho was bittersweet. We met with him when I was first evaluated as a potential transplant patient in 2019 and he was the final transplant doctor I met with yesterday. I even told him it was very fitting. He reminded me that I am a part of their family and can reach out whenever. Thats when it hit me.
Today as I celebrate 3 years since my transplant I am humbled by all the love, support and prayers I have and continue to receive. Transplant is not a cure. Kidney disease is something I will continue to deal with but I’m on the right track and moving forward.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you for being along on my journey. It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years but here we are! Here’s to many more happy years ahead! Happy 3 year kidneyversary to Karl, my kidney!!!
