Anger is often the emotion people see first 🌋

Yelling, shutting down, sarcasm, walking away, or snapping at others can be the outward signs that something deeper is going on.

But anger rarely exists on its own. Beneath the surface there are often feelings like hurt, shame, rejection, sadness, loneliness, or feeling unheard. When those emotions build up without space to be expressed, they can erupt like a volcano.

Learning to pause and look beneath the anger can help us better understand ourselves and others. When we recognize the deeper emotions underneath, we can start responding with more awareness, compassion, and healthier ways of coping 💬

You don’t have to be struggling to benefit from therapy and you don’t even have to know how to articulate what you’re experiencing to get started.

The question isn’t “do I need therapy?”. It’s “could I benefit from some support and prioritizing myself?”.

This week in our Healing Through Their Minds series, we’re reflecting on Walter Mitty from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Walter spends much of his life in his imagination, picturing a version of himself that feels braver and more capable than the one he believes he is. Daydreaming becomes a quiet escape from the fear of taking risks in the real world.

But his story reminds us that growth often begins the moment we step outside the life we’ve been observing from a distance. Confidence is not something we magically wake up with, it is something we build through experience, courage, and small steps forward.

Sometimes the life we’re longing for is waiting just beyond the moment we decide to try.

Sometimes the biggest accomplishment is simply making it through the week. Even when the days feel heavy, each one you move through is a reminder of your strength and resilience. Take a moment to recognize that you made it through. 💜

This week in our Healing Through Their Minds series, we’re reflecting on Lucy Whitmore from 50 First Dates.

Lucy’s story raises a powerful question about worth. When she realizes the impact of her memory loss on the people around her, she pulls back, believing distance is the most loving choice. Sometimes we convince ourselves that protecting others means shrinking ourselves.

Her journey reminds us that fearing we are “too much” or “not enough” can lead us to isolate. But real connection is not built on perfection. It is built on consent, patience, and the choice to stay.

Healing can begin when we stop deciding for others that we are a burden, and allow ourselves to be loved as we are.
