We had the opportunity to stop by Catapult Lakeland today and check out Las Rosas Colombian Cuisine&Catering, and it did not disappoint.

The steak, empanadas, and chimichurri were all excellent, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care.

One of the things we value most is being part of a community that supports local businesses, and it’s always great to see others showing up and doing things the right way.

If you’re in the area, they’ll be back at Catapult next Monday 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. It’s definitely worth stopping by and checking them out.

If you’re applying for a Captain’s License, your First Aid and CPR class matters more than you think.

The Coast Guard doesn’t just require a certification card. There is additional documentation that has to be completed and issued with your training.

If it’s missing, it can delay your application.

At FACTS, we make sure everything is handled correctly the first time, including the required USCG documentation.

¿Ha visto uno de estos en un aeropuerto, gimnasio, escuela o lugar de trabajo?

Es un DEA (desfibrilador externo automático).

Muchas personas pasan junto a estos dispositivos todos los días sin saber exactamente cómo funcionan o cuándo se utilizan.

Un DEA puede ayudar durante un paro cardíaco mientras llegan los servicios de emergencia. Estos equipos están diseñados para que cualquier persona pueda utilizarlos siguiendo instrucciones simples.

Reconocer un DEA y saber cuándo usarlo puede marcar la diferencia en una emergencia.

When a violent incident occurs, the people already on scene are often the first ones forced to act before law enforcement or EMS can arrive.

Recent news reports about a school shooting serve as a difficult reminder of that reality. In this incident, individuals present intervened and engaged the attacker, ultimately stopping the threat before additional lives were lost.

Situations like this highlight an important point about emergency response. When violence unfolds, the first critical moments often belong to the people already there.

Active Violence Immediate Response Training (AVIRT) was developed to help prepare people for those moments. The program focuses on situational awareness, recognizing threats, and making rapid decisions to protect yourself and others during a violent emergency.

AVIRT also addresses what often follows these incidents: serious traumatic injuries. Participants learn life-threatening bleeding control techniques such as applying direct pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets until professional responders arrive.

Training cannot eliminate tragedy, but preparation can help people respond more effectively when seconds matter.

One of the most common things we hear during training is people using the terms heart attack and cardiac arrest interchangeably. They are not the same situation, and knowing the difference helps people understand when CPR and an AED are needed.

Today we had the opportunity to work with administrative staff from a local elementary school who chose to invest time in preparing for medical emergencies.

Schools are responsible for the safety of students every day. When an emergency happens, the people already on scene are often the first link in the chain of survival.

During this session participants practiced:

• CPR skills and high-quality compressions
• Rescue breathing and airway management
• Use of emergency response equipment
• Recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations

Hands-on training helps build confidence so that staff can act quickly and effectively until EMS arrives.

FACTS - First Aid and CPR Training Services is expanding.

We are pleased to now offer CPR and First Aid training at our training space in downtown Lakeland, located inside Catapult Lakeland.

This space allows us to host small group training and open enrollment classes in a professional classroom setting while continuing to provide on-site training for businesses and organizations across Central Florida.

Programs available include:

• CPR for adults, children, and infants
• Adult and Pediatric First Aid training
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
