Starting January 3, 2026, Watson Clinic's Pediatrics department will accept appointments for Saturday sick visits exclusively from our Highlands location in south Lakeland. These Saturday appointments will no longer be available at our North Pediatrics facility starting in the new year. It’s time for Selfie Saturday – an opportunity to get to know one of our providers like never before! Today, we asked Ariel Vulgamore, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, a registered nurse practitioner who works alongside board-certified Pediatricians Dr. Jason Cornett and Dr. Kendra Velez Rodriguez from our Watson Clinic North Pediatrics and Watson Clinic South locations, to share a selfie and a few details about herself.

What’s your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant would absolutely be Chick-fil-a. I worked at our local Chick-fil-a during high school. I would eat a chargrilled sandwich or a spicy southwest salad any day at any time! I have taken the second mile service approach to my practice as well - it will always be "my pleasure" to see you - even for same day appointments!

What is something about you that people might find surprising?
Some people may find it surprising that I have been married for 13 years. I married my high school sweetheart and life has been sweet ever since! We have two awesome children ages 7 and 3.

Do you have a favorite quote?
Working in Pediatrics there are MANY new phrases and quotes that kids are saying. I could guess maybe 6 or 7 of them would be my favorite (cue every kid chiming in with "6-7"). I would laugh to say that my favorite quote may have to be YOLO (You Only Live Once). I jokingly say this to reflect that life is truly a blessing, so you should enjoy every moment with your family and loved ones. Try to see the good in situations, because your perspective can change a lot. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

What are your favorite hobbies?
In true Polk County fashion, my favorite pastime would be fishing! Tuna fishing in the Bahamas was probably my favorite family vacation. We are raising little anglers!

What do you like most about working at Watson Clinic?
I love working in Lakeland to serve the pediatric population of our community! I grew up in Lakeland and am honored to work in an organization that is so deeply rooted in the community. Being able to build relationships with my patients and their families as they grow is the most rewarding part of my job.

Road construction is scheduled to begin soon on Lakeland Hills Blvd. between Parkview Place and Griffin Road. While entrances and exits to all Watson Clinic locations in this area will remain open and accessible as usual, we do expect an increase in traffic as Lakeland Hills Blvd. will be restricted to one lane going in each direction. This construction project is expected to take approximately two years to complete, so you may want to consider an alternate route down US 98 N if you wish to save time. Thank you for your understanding during this process.
