Florida Southern College is pleased to announce Kate Carney as the Featured Poster Artist for the 54th Mayfaire by-the-Lake, hosted by the Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art!

Selected from the talented artists who have exhibited at the festival, Carney’s expressive oil paintings celebrate the beauty and vitality of living subjects, from birds and animals to people and plants. Her distinctive approach blends classical underpainting, an Impressionist palette, and confident contemporary brushwork to create work that is both technically masterful and full of life.

For 2026, Carney’s featured image thoughtfully expands Lakeland’s beloved swan narrative by honoring the rich diversity of waterfowl found around Lake Morton. Her vibrant, layered painting will appear on official Mayfaire posters, apparel, and festival merchandise.
