Calf diarrhea and respiratory disease have been found to respond to selection over generations. These traits are positively correlated with survival, longevity, and other fitness traits. Leveraging genomic information related to health helps avoid one-sided selection for milk yield that might otherwise erode disease resistance.

Wild yeasts are naturally occurring fungi that hitchhike on crops, grains, by‑products, and liquid feeds long before they get to the bunk, trough, or feeder. They are different from the beneficial live yeast probiotics we intentionally add; wild yeasts are uninvited guests that thrive on oxygen and sugar and are strongly linked to feed spoilage and animal performance losses in cattle, swine, poultry, and other species.

Not all fat sources are created equal. Better digestible fat sources mean more gain per pound of powder and less “spent” on calories that never show up as frame or muscle, which improves feed efficiency and margin per calf. Read more about how different fat sources can affect your calf health, growth, and ultimately your bottom line by clicking the link below!

Fat is a nutrient that is gaining attention in all areas of both human and animal nutrition. Fat is a critical nutrient for energy, organs, hormone production, and cell function. It is essential for brain health, nerve signaling, and healthy epithelial barriers. Fat for Calves Fat is a critical ener...

Better digestible fat sources mean more gain per pound of powder and less money spent on nutrients that never show up as frame and muscle. Medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA) from coconut oil and milk fat, digest very efficiently and provide quick energy. Some long-chain fatty acids like those from soybean and lard, tallow, soybean and canola oil can be less efficient and may alter feed efficiency and growth. It's all about balancing fat source availability, cost, feed efficiency, and cost per pound of gain.
