Meet our new doctor! Dr. Krystal Schulle.
Dr. Schulle grew up in Lockhart, the BBQ capital of Texas, where she graduated valedictorian of her high school class. She then moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston, earning both her undergraduate and optometry degrees with Summa Cum Laude honors. Following graduation, she completed a residency in ocular disease and refractive and ocular surgery at Eye Center of Texas before joining the clinical faculty at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO).
After five years at UHCO, Dr. Schulle transitioned into ophthalmology practices, providing specialized tertiary and perioperative eye care to patients across the greater Houston area. Upon becoming a mother, she decided to return to central Texas to be closer to family. Now, she is thrilled to be a part of Lake Travis Eye and Laser Center, where she can continue delivering exceptional eye care while reconnecting with her roots.
Dr. Schulle is a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association. She is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and has previously served as a board member and past-president of the Harris County Optometric Society. She has earned numerous awards and scholarships, most notably, the Terry Foundation Scholarship, Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, Julius F. Neumueller Award in Optics, and the National Institute of Health Loan Repayment Program Award.
Dr. Schulle has published many clinical research manuscripts and abstracts, primarily related to myopia progression and ocular disease. She is passionate about service and participated in three mission trips to Haiti, one to bring clean drinking water to a remote community, and two dedicated to providing essential eye care.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, staying active, being involved in her church, and most importantly, spending time with her husband and son.
