"My approach is rooted in a deep respect for your story and the belief that meaningful change happens when you feel truly seen and understood, honoring and making space for the complex and evolving facets of your life. I believe real change happens when you feel safe enough to be honest about both what’s going on right now, and the deeper patterns that have shaped your life."

There's many myths around Ketamine-Assisted Therapy. We're here to dispel those myths with the facts behind them.

MYTH: KAP is the same as recreational drug use
FACT: Ketamine in therapy is legally prescribed, carefully dosed, and used within a structured clinical and therapeutic setting.

MYTH: Ketamine does all the work
FACT: The therapy, before and after sessions, is essential for insight, safety, and long-term healing.

MYTH: KAP is a “last resort”
FACT: KAP is simply one of many tools that may support healing, depending on individual needs.

Curious if KAP could be right for you? We’re here to help you explore your options.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy at Green Mountain Counseling is a thoughtfully structured, collaborative process designed to support both safety and meaningful change.

It begins with an initial consultation to explore whether KAP feels like a good fit for your goals, history, and current support system. From there, clients move through preparation sessions, where you and your therapist set intentions, discuss expectations, and build tools for grounding and emotional regulation.

Ketamine dosing sessions take place with a medical referral and are paired closely with therapy. Your therapist remains present to provide emotional support, help you stay connected to your body and breath, and ensure the experience feels contained and safe.

Following each dosing session, integration therapy helps you reflect on what emerged — making sense of insights, emotions, or memories and exploring how they connect to your everyday life, relationships, and healing goals.

KAP isn’t rushed, and it isn’t one-size-fits-all. Each step is paced intentionally, honoring your nervous system and your readiness for change.

When combined with psychotherapy, ketamine may help accelerate symptom relief and deepen therapeutic work, particularly for depression, anxiety, and trauma-related concerns. Clients often report feeling more open, connected, and able to explore difficult topics with greater compassion toward themselves.

As with all therapy, outcomes vary, but KAP offers a promising option for those seeking a different path forward. Learn more on our website — get there through the link in our bio.

After the ketamine experience, therapy focuses on integration — making sense of what came up and how it connects to your life, relationships, and goals.

This is where insight turns into action, and awareness becomes sustainable change. KAP is a process, not a single moment, and integration sessions are a vital part of long-term healing.

During a ketamine dosing session, clients often describe feeling relaxed, introspective, or gently distanced from everyday thought patterns. The effects typically last about 45 minutes, during which time ketamine may allow space to explore emotions or memories with less fear or resistance.

After the effects subside, your session allows for time to process and discuss your experience. While it may feel hard to articulate, the insights gained are clear. Every experience is unique, and your therapist remains present to support safety, comfort, and emotional grounding throughout.

Why pair ketamine with therapy? Ketamine alone can create change, but therapy is what helps make that change meaningful and lasting.

Therapists support clients before, during, and after ketamine sessions to:
• set intentions
• offer grounding and emotional support
• process insights
• integrate experiences into daily life

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is not just about the medicine. It’s about what you do with the experience afterward.

Ketamine works differently than traditional psychiatric medications. Rather than focusing on serotonin alone, it supports neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to form new neural connections.

This can help interrupt rigid thought patterns and emotional loops, creating more flexibility in how the brain processes experiences. In therapy, this flexibility can open space for new insights, emotional regulation, and perspective-shifting conversations.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy may be a supportive option for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other conditions, especially when symptoms haven’t improved with therapy or medication alone.

Ketamine can help create a temporary shift in perspective, allowing clients to access emotions, memories, and insights that may feel out of reach in a typical therapy session.

KAP isn’t a quick fix — it’s a tool used intentionally within a therapeutic relationship to support meaningful change.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a therapeutic modality that combines guided psychotherapy with the use of ketamine, a legal medication administered under medical supervision.

At Green Mountain Counseling, KAP is offered as a collaborative, trauma-informed process, supporting clients who may feel stuck or limited by traditional treatment approaches.

This work is intentional, structured, and centered on safety, preparation, and integration. Want to learn more? Stay tuned this week and next for more posts, or check out our website and email us today.
