Myth: “If I use respite care services, people with think I’m not a committed caregiver”

Truth: Taking a break from caregiving actually shows a deep commitment to caregiving. How? Respite care makes it possible to come back to caregiving feeling fresh and renewed, making you a more effective caregiver.

In 2023, the Healthy Kids Colorado survey asked middle and high schoolers in Colorado whether or not they “provide care for someone in their family or household who is chronically ill, elderly, or disabled with activities they would have difficulty doing on their own one or more days a week.” An estimated 12.4% of high schoolers and 20.5% of middle schoolers responding said yes.

On January 13, we’re partnering with Libraries Learn to host Talking Teen Services: Seeing Our Unseen Caregiving Youth. It will be an absolutely fantastic panel discussion on how to support caregiving youth, perfect for anyone working for a program that supports youth, wholly or in part.

The webinar is FREE and will last from 11:00am-12:00pm. Register here to join us: https://www.librarieslearn.org/calendar-old/talking-teen-services-seeing-our-unseen-caregiving-youth
