Lee Sylvester was this year's Charlie Allinson Award recipient for developing and establishing DDRC’s comprehensive system for benefits planning. His work has been truly vital in guiding people through intricate bureaucratic structures so they can secure employment. Having recently completed Cornell University’s specialized Youth Credentialing course, Lee is now actively contributing to the creation of best practices across the state. Through this effort, he is giving young people with disabilities the essential tools to confidently map out their futures.

What a terrific “Tips and Treats” event for kids and families in Jeffco! DDRC was so glad to share all that we do in pediatric ABA, Unmet Needs assistance, and so much more —including our upcoming “group respite” for kiddos on the CES waiver.
Big Kudos to the Jefferson County Case Management Agency for organizing this fun fair with so many providers! Thank you Tim, Liz, April and the whole Jeffco CMA team for hosting!

The Spirit Award is given annually to a disabled individual who demonstrates a positive impact on their neighborhood, shows great resilience, and actively pursues personal goals. This year, the honor belongs to Casey Shover, who exemplifies all these qualities and more.

Casey is a truly remarkable Special Olympics competitor. Though he possesses the skill to dominate the basketball court, he consistently displays humility and places the utmost importance on teamwork and encouraging his fellow athletes. Beyond his own sport, Casey dedicates his time to volunteering as a coach and has made it a point to attend numerous DDRC functions to offer his personal support. His enthusiasm, outstanding sportsmanship, and determination to positively influence others serve as an inspiration to everyone he meets. Congratulations, Casey!

At our recent Annual Celebration, we had the pleasure of honoring individuals and organizations who have made a major impact uplifting and supporting DDRC and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

To start, The Partner of the Year Award was presented to and the Credit Union of Denver , in honor of their long-term collaboration and powerful championship of DDRC's cause. Their contributions have been crucial in broadening our reach and solidifying our presence in the local community. Over the past four years, the Credit Union has been a fundamental financial sponsor for DDRC’s signature events, including the yearly golf outing and our milestone 60th-anniversary celebration. Rufino himself has been the key driver of this effort, providing us valuable space to meet the public right inside the Credit Union's main entrance and actively promoting our work at Chamber of Commerce and other civic gatherings.

Next, we presented the Friend Award to Ballmer Peak Distillery , honoring owners Austin Adamson and Eric Strom for mixing imaginative business practices with a genuine dedication to community welfare. Their commitment includes significant help for DDRC's functions and informational efforts. They have eagerly offered their expertise for our yearly "Spring into Awareness" programs, held during Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

October was a very rewarding month for DDRC as we hit the road for several regional resource fairs, sharing how we support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

We had fantastic engagement at events including the A&I Case Management fair, Jeffco Public Schools Transitions Fair, Laradon's "Harvesting Resources" event, and the Jeffco Hiring Fair!

We always prioritize community engagement and are actively seeking opportunities to connect 🤝 If your organization is planning a community event or resource fair, please contact us! We would love to participate ❤️
