Barton County Memorial Park

If you have visited the southwest corner of the Memorial Park lately you may have noticed several small flags missing. Well, come to find out, the squirrels have been stealing them right off the wooden rods. Gordie, Kathleen and myself have all witnessed it first hand. Kathleen even snapped some pics of the lil varmint heading up the tree with a mouthful. It is not uncommon to replace five flags in the morning and by that night six are gone.

So, bear with us as we try several different things including pepper spray. Hopefully I will not have to go full Caddyshack on them. IYKYK

We would like to thank the many friends and family of Dan Werner that donated in his name to the Barton County Memorial Park after his passing on December 6. I didn’t know Dan personally but from the outpouring of contributions he must have been well thought of and will be missed terribly.

We would also like to thank his family for thinking of us. As requested, all contributions in his name will go towards a bench at the Memorial Park. Any money that is left over will go the Flag Club.

EDITED: The next round of engraving will not be until later this year and the price will probably go up because we have to engrave the name onsite.
