Richard James Cross, 59, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home.

Richard was born on Thursday, April 21, 1966, in Worcester, MA, to the late Robert T. Cross and Beverly A. Disorbo. Throughout Richard’s life, he has always been known as a man of many talents. He took pride in the fact that over the span of his life, he had held one hundred different jobs. A man who loved to work with his hands, there truly was nothing that he couldn’t fix. Richard was also a person who made sure his responsibilities, especially when it came to finances, were always taken care of first to ensure his family never went without. He and his loving wife, Marsha, were partners in everything. Together, they enjoyed buying old houses and would carry out the remodel themselves, then sell them to fund the next project. Richard was also very adventurous; he and Marsha were always in search of the next great exploration to conquer. Climbing Mount Mitchell is one of their fondest pursuits. Richard showed Marsha what it was like to have a deep, abiding love, and the two became inseparable. An avid gardener, he could make anything grow, no matter how poor or sick the plant was; he always knew how to bring it back to life. His lawn and gardens were always meticulously kept, and he took pride in keeping his space immaculate. For example, two weeks before his passing, though he was weak, he made up his mind that he was going to take himself outside and trim the bushes in front of the house. Sure enough, even though it almost gave Marsha a heart attack coming home to see this in progress, he was out there doing exactly what he said he was going to do. Richard was the type of man who, when he had decided he was going to do something, he was going to do it, and there was no talking him out of it. To know him was to love him, quirks and all, and he leaves behind an impression on the hearts of many.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twenty years, Marsha Cross; daughter, Macy Black; sons, James and Tommy Cross; sister, Elizabeth Cross; as well as many other family members and dear friends.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the Calvary Chapel sanctuary (1270 Williams Rd., Fort Mill, SC 29715). A potluck dinner will be held immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to the American Cancer Society.

Calvin Carson Blackmon, 94, of Lancaster, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 27, 2026, at his residence.

Calvin was born on Tuesday, September 22, 1931, in Lancaster County to the late Harvey and Maxine (Baker) Blackmon. Throughout his life, Calvin has always been known for his loving heart, strong work ethic, and as an overall cowboy. A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served his country during the Korean War. For most of his life, he worked as a truck driver for multiple companies throughout his career, and retired from The Kendall Company after countless years of dedication. Calvin was a dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church for countless years, and during that time served as a deacon. When he wasn’t on the road, chances are you would find him spending time with his family, traveling in the motor home, camping, competing in horse shows with a local saddle club, or riding on one of his beloved tractors. Always dressed in his Wrangler jeans, snap button cowboy shirts, and hat, he was always outside working on a project. Whether it be his extensive garden or working his cows, he was always on the move.

Calvin had a big heart for children; he and his wife, Catherine, ran a daycare on their farm, known as “Blackmon’s Kiddie Land Nursery,” where he was known as “Paw Paw”. It was not uncommon for him to load up as many kids as could fit on the tractor and ride them around the pasture to see the cows. When it came time for different parades, he would load up his family and children into his dump truck, where he would raise the bed of it up so they could get the ultimate view of the passing floats and festivities. Times spent like these were some of his favorite memories, and he cherished every moment he could, especially with his grandchildren.

Calvin leaves behind an impression of respect and love on the hearts of so many. Though it is hard to process the fact that he has entered into rest and is no longer with us, peace is found in knowing that he is now reunited with his sweetheart, Catherine, in heaven.

In addition to his parents, Calvin is preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy-six years, Catherine Blackmon; daughter, Deanna Blackmon; his two sons, Karl and Mark Blackmon; as well as numerous brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters, Linda Taylor (Dennis) and Patricia Walters; grandchildren, Carla Knight (Mike) and Jillian Walters (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Skylar Knight (Stella), Madison Knight, Airianna and Colton; great-great-granddaughter, Emmie Louise; as well as his special friends, Cameron and Corinne Langford.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Trent McLauglin will be officiating. Friends and family wishing to do so can come to the funeral home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 pm for viewing; no formal visitation will be held.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Calvin’s caregivers, Shannon Davis, Patricia Deese, and Kevin Farris, for their unwavering compassionate care and dedication. As well as to his nurses with Agape Hospice Care, Lisa Wilson, Donna Douglas, Brooke Bryson, and social worker Connie Barr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Antioch Baptist Church, Attn: Building Fund, 1734 Antioch Church Road, Lancaster, SC 29720..

Jimmy Martin White, Jr., affectionately known as "Jim", 73, of Lancaster, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his residence.

Jim was born on Wednesday, March 18, 1953, in Knoxville, TN, to the late Rev. Jimmy Martin White, Sr., and Marie Ethel Stevens White. Throughout his life, Jim has always been known for his loving heart, strong work ethic, and true follower of Christ. Jim had a way about him that when he spoke, you listened. Though he was a man of few words, what he had to say was direct and to the point. You may not have always liked what he had to say, but you knew it came from the heart and from a lifetime's worth of wisdom and knowledge. Jim was known in our community as a well-respected brick mason. He instilled the importance of hard work and learning a skilled trade in his children and passed down his business to them to carry on. It was no secret that when Jim wasn’t laying brick or working on a project of his own, chances are you would find him enjoying the outdoors. He spent many years at the Lancaster Speedway driving the #00 car, pursuing that beloved checkered flag into “Victory Lane,” slinging up as much mud and dust as he could along the way. An avid fisherman and hunter, he loved to be out in the woods running his trusty dogs, rabbit hunting with his best friend of fifty-plus years, James Heath. Jim leaves behind a lasting impression on the hearts of so many. A loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Culp; a son, Timmy “Hardrock” Blackmon; and a brother, Charles “Chuck” All.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-three years, Gail Hunter White; daughter, Lisa “Moe” Culp (Joey); sons, Mitchell Blackmon, Jimmy “Kojack” White, III and Matthew “Matt” White; adopted sons, Chuck Clanton, Clyde Ivey; sister, Pastor Rachel Foster (Billy); brothers, Donald Ray (Pam), Kenny (Patti) and John White (Milah); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as countless other family members and friends.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 2:00 in the Lynwood Drive Church of God sanctuary, with Pastor Byron Fincannon and Bro. James Pegues officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Leon Clyde Robinson, age 87, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

He was born in Lancaster, SC, on September 26, 1938, to Broadus Hazel “Buck” Robinson, Sr., and Nettie Lee Sims Robinson. Leon was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, B. Janet Newton Robinson, who predeceased him. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandson immensely and made efforts to attend ball games and special events until his memory declined.

Leon was a 1959 graduate of Lancaster High School. He worked as a telephone lineman and retired from the Lancaster Telephone Company (the predecessor of Comporium) in 2001 after 33 years. Leon was also employed for 10 years with General Contractors in Baltimore, MD. For some of that time, he and his three brothers worked on the same telephone line crew. Leon enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, and playing slow-pitch softball with Lancaster Telephone Company’s team and with Sherwood Baptist Church’s team. Leon gave his life to Jesus Christ while attending Sherwood Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC. Many family members and friends recall Leon’s great humor and one-liners that stayed with him long after his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s.

Leon is survived by his children, Patricia L. Robinson Vincent and her husband William A. “Tony” Vincent of Lancaster, SC; Michael Leon Robinson and his wife Lori Dreher Robinson of Irmo, SC; and Janet L. Robinson Everett and her husband Lance A. Everett of Pickton, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lauren Vincent Thomas and her husband Matthew R. Thomas of Marvin, NC; Ryan M. Vincent and his wife Elisa Faulk Vincent of Lexington, SC; and Andrew M. Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC. Further, Leon is survived by his sister-in-law, Frances Sowell Robinson of Lancaster, SC, as well as his great-grandson, Owen R. Thomas.

Leon was predeceased by his parents, wife, and grandson, Peyton A. Williams. He was predeceased by his siblings, Sybil Frances Robinson Plyler, Bobby Ray Robinson, Bennie Franklin Robinson, and Broadus Hazel “Tony” Robinson, Jr.

The family of Leon Robinson is overwhelmed with gratitude for the daily care our father received from Miguel and Karen Ballesteros of Arcadia Care Home of Waxhaw, NC. The care he received went beyond anything for which we could have asked. Miguel and Karen had a voice in medical decisions that allowed our father to outlive our expectations with his severe decline from Alzheimer’s.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:00 am at A Simple Service, 201 N. Catawba Street, Lancaster, SC, with his nephew, Rev. K. Scott Robinson, officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park, 1389 Memorial Park Road in Lancaster, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at A Simple Service and other times at 1053 Snow Drive in Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
