It’s not only an HONOR but a pleasure to be a WOMAN.

To walk with woman.
To support woman.
To teach woman.
To guide woman.
To empower woman.
To birth woman.
To raise them.
To hold space for her healing.

I have dedicated my life’s work to woman because it wasn’t so long ago we were changing our names in order to have our work published.

I like to empower her, because I believe SHE CAN.

My biggest pleasure in the world is to see a woman that works with me winning and reaches her dreams, her goals, with happy tears in their eyes 🥹 and if she’s holding a baby even better

Knowledge is the opposite of fear ?! 💕
That’s why it’s important to get educated “BEFORE” the day of your baby’s arrival🤰
There are some beautiful traditions passed from generation to generation about pregnancy, birth and newborn care BUT there’s also lots of misconceptions and uneducated information our moms and grandmas have carried along with the years.
This is what our birthworkers recommended:

1️⃣ Get enrolled in childbirth education classes and bring your birthing team along!

2️⃣ ASK questions! If your doctor or midwife that can address ALL your concerns if they can’t help: CHANGE providers now!

3️⃣ Educate yourself in nutrition 🥑 Yes “now you are eating for 2” but it’s not about the quantity it’s about the quality so educate yourself in receiving the proper protein intake, leafy greens and water.

4️⃣ Warming up contractions or how some folks like to call them “Braxton Hicks“ can also be caused by dehydration. Remember the space your baby is living it’s all water! 💧 keep it up!

5️⃣ Be aware of UTis 🚫 they are more common in pregnancy and an unresolved UTI can lead to kidney failure. At any urinary discomfort. Please contact your doctor.

6️⃣ YES YOU CAN have a vaginal birth after a C-section. Know your rights and ask questions since the beginning.

7️⃣ Make a “birth plan” I know birth is unpredictable but having your desires written 📝 PROPERLY will make communication go “smoother” between your team and the medical team.

8️⃣ You are hiring the medical team! Weather is a hospital, a birth center or a midwife. You are hiring them and it’s your baby, your body and your choices. Don’t let them abuse you or take advantage of you and please respectfully Work with them as a team.

9️⃣ Every time a procedure is offered during or after labor you should ask “are we at risk” “is this absolutely necessary “ASK before signing! It’s called INFORMED CONSENT! And it’s your right.

🔟 Get yourself a DOULA who can support you with all the points mentioned above with advocacy and knowledge .

Elective induction around a holiday is for convenience, but not yours.

With Thanksgiving & Christmas coming up, loads of unnecessary inductions and c-sections are about to happen.

Every year there is a HUGE decrease in births on (and around)...

🔆 Christmas
🔆 New Year’s Eve/Day
🔆 Easter (changes yearly - first Sunday after the full moon in April)
🔆 Memorial Day (changes yearly - last Monday in May in the US)
🔆 Independence Day (4th of July in the US)
🔆 Thanksgiving (changes yearly - last Thursday in November)

And it’s not just the United States - it's everywhere.

How could it be that all of these holidays have lower birth rates year after year?

It’s not a coincidence - it’s about convenience.

And not YOUR convenience. The convenience of providers.

No one wants to work on holidays, and hospital birth providers have a way to make sure (for the most part) that they don’t have to.

Inductions & c-sections are rarely scheduled ON holidays, but they ARE frequently scheduled in the days leading up to, or just after, a holiday.

If you are due around a holiday, and your provider suggests an induction or c-section, it’s a good idea to question why (remember that you always have the right to decline). If there is NOT a legitimate medical reason, they may be more concerned with being home in time for a holiday dinner than your well being.
