The bonus of traveling from Baltimore to Arkansas every two weeks for a company that invests in the safety of their employees. Thank you, Turkey Hill Dairy. This beautiful human remembered me from my weekly trips to Connecticut for Pepperidge Farm two years ago. Twenty five weeks in a row you get to make friends with the nicest people. FROM ZOO AMERICA, Hershey, PA: Say hello to Opie, our ambassador opossum! Opie did not develop hip sockets as a baby and was determined to be non-releasable by a wildlife rehabilitator. Our team was thrilled to give him a wonderful home where visitors can learn about Opie's history and the importance of opossums to the ecosystem.
When he first arrived at ZooAmerica, his hip and leg muscles weren't strong enough to keep his bottom half in the correct position, causing a pelvic tilt. Due to this, he would often cross his legs under himself and trip.
With physical therapy, Opie strengthened his muscles and relearned where to position his legs to walk and stand. He also receives laser therapy to reduce inflammation. He has made great progress and turned two on July 10. We are so happy to have him as one of our ambassador species!
