Our newly renovated dental wing reflects trauma-informed care - each room is individualized and fully enclosed, giving patients the privacy and space they need to feel safe.

This design fosters deeper connection between patients and dental staff, allowing relationships to grow in an environment of trust and respect. Dental chairs face the door so patients can see who’s entering—helping ease anxiety and restore a sense of control.

"It's amazing because without Recuperative Care, I really would not be here," Dave says.

Last year, things started getting a little rough for Dave as far as being able to afford housing, and he ended up living on the street. Around the same time, he started getting a sore feeling in his throat every time he swallowed. A doctor's visit and a few tests later, it turned out he had third stage throat cancer.

Our Recuperative Care program exists to serve those who are going through significant health challenges while experiencing homelessness.

Struggling with intense pain in his lower jaw, so much so that he would oftentimes avoid talking, Dafe received help from the dental clinic at Water Street Health Services. It turned out his pain was caused by a bad infection in his tooth which he received treatment for. "To actually understand that you need the help of other people can be a very humbling experience," he says.
