While the world blooms, you might feel stuck in the cold. Here are gentle ways to navigate this season: 1)Allow yourself to feel contrast without judgment. 2)Create small rituals to honor your loved one. 3)Spend time in nature—even 10 minutes helps. 4) Connect with others who understand. When choosing cremation, families often have important questions about cost, process, and who will be caring for their loved one. Understanding these details can bring comfort and confidence during a difficult time.

At Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory, families have the reassurance of working with a provider that operates its own on-site crematory. This means your loved one stays in the care of the same dedicated team from the moment they are entrusted to us until they are respectfully returned to your family.

Our facility also includes on-site refrigeration, providing a secure, dignified, and carefully maintained environment for your loved one while arrangements are being made. This added level of care allows families peace of mind knowing their loved one remains close and under our direct supervision at all times.

We are proud to be the most cost-effective cremation provider in Grant and Crawford Counties, offering affordable services without sacrificing the dignity, professionalism, and compassionate care every family deserves.

An on-site crematory offers several benefits, including greater transparency, continuity of care, and often lower overall costs by reducing outside third-party fees. Most importantly, it allows families to know exactly where their loved one is and who is overseeing every step of the process.

When comparing cremation options, it is wise to ask whether the cremation is performed on-site, what services are included, and how the provider ensures dignity and accountability. Having the right information helps families make the best choice for their needs.

Traditional services typically include formal visitation, religious ceremonies, and burial. Celebration of Life services focus on joyful memories, personalization, and often reflect the deceased's personality and passions—music they loved, hobbies they enjoyed, stories that make people smile. There's no wrong choice—only what feels right for your family. We're here to help you create a service that truly honors your loved one's life and legacy.

You might feel anger one day, acceptance the next, then find yourself back in sadness. That's completely normal. Grief doesn't follow a timeline or checklist. The stages—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance—aren't steps you complete. They're experiences that ebb and flow like tides. Be patient with yourself. Healing has its own rhythm, and we're here to support you through it all.

Proudly Serving Area Families

Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory encompasses over 130 years of family and traditions. The Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster began as Goble & Son in 1882 and in 1956 was purchased by John and Margaret O'Rourke. In 1986, the O'Rourke funeral home was purchased by Terrence A. Schwartz. He and his partner, Gregory R. Martin, consolidated the funeral homes into Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory, in 2001.

In 2016 our new Facility, Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster opened. We now have our own on site crematory. We currently have the largest funeral home chapel and parking lot in Grant County. In addition, our gathering room can accommodate catered funeral dinners.
