It was a busy week for Growing Health! 🌱 We visited York on Monday and Lancaster on Friday, giving participants hands-on tips for gardening, herbs, and healthy living.

Horticulture agent, Abi Taylor shared tips on growing herbs, while Rural Health and Nutrition agents Elizabeth Josey and Hannah Shifflette talked with participants about cooking with herbs and the health benefits of gardening. Hannah also demonstrated simple stretches to help gardeners stay safe and prevent injury before heading out to the garden.

Participants also got to try a delicious whipped feta dip topped with parsley, lemon balm, and mint.

Which herb are you excited to cook with this spring? 🌿 Share your favorites in the comments below!

We had a great time this morning participating in the Van Wyck Elementary Career Cafe. It was so much fun talking with students about careers in agriculture, nutrition, and the work we do through Clemson Cooperative Extension.

Today we are delivering vegetable transplants to schools in Lancaster to support their school gardens this spring! 🌱

These transplants were provided by the Clemson Extension School & Community Gardening program and allow students to get hands-on experience growing fresh food while learning where their food comes from.

Lancaster schools received their gardens through their participation in the MUSC Boeing Center for Children's Wellness School-Based Wellness Initiative, which supports healthier school environments and wellness opportunities for students.

Special thanks to Lancaster County SC 4-H Youth Development for helping us get the plants delivered.

We’re excited to see these gardens grow and can’t wait to watch students learn, plant, and harvest in the weeks ahead!
