Thank you, thank you, thank you to HHG volunteer and Master Gardener Carrie Farquhar and especially her husband Jeff (now an honorary member for sure!) for tackling these bushes sorely in need of a haircut at a previous HHG client’s home. The owner was moved to tears of gratitude and it was definitely time well spent.

Sending a huge shout-out to Central Ohio Tree Care for donating their services to one of HHG's clients in Pickerington last week. The magnolia tree desperately needed trimming, but it was beyond the scope of our volunteers so Vaughn and his team stepped in to save the day. They did an amazing job and we so appreciate their generous spirit. I'll definitely call them for any future tree trimming needs and I hope you will, too!

We've been lucky enough to have helped three clients in three weeks already this spring in beautifying their landscape and lifting their spirits! We've also had an informational table at the Seeds of Change/Arbor Day program at Rising Park and at the Lancaster Farmer's Market, while sharing information about HHG with the morning Rotary Club members. We're nearly caught up to date, so please spread the word about our free, no-strings-attached services for local eligible residents!

Sending a huge shout-out and thank you to Bill from My Lawn Guy for assisting us this spring. One of our clients from last year needed some bushes pruned that were a little too much for our volunteer cadre. I reached out to Bill on the Nextdoor platform and asked if he would be willing to help us and he immediately did so. We (and our clients) greatly appreciated Bill's assistance!

Come visit our booth at the Seeds of Change program this Saturday morning at Rising Park from 10 am to Noon. We'll have garden kneelers to give away along with great information about our organization!

Another spring, another growing season!! Helping Hands in the Garden is also ready to spring into action again! We are actively seeking the following: Fairfield County residents who we can serve with free, no-strings-attached support as they battle cancer; volunteers who would like to combine their love of playing in the dirt with brightening the spirits of their fellow humans; and businesses or individuals interested in donating materials or funds to these efforts. Please contact FFCoHHintheGarden@gmail.com for more information on any of these ways to get involved. You can also find more information about our nonprofit 501-c-3 organization at

It was a beautiful fall day -perfect for spending time creating new and freshening up another client’s gardens. So thankful for the recent rain that helped us avoid using chisels to dig in the dirt and for these committed volunteers!

Thursday found our hard-working team of volunteers in another client ‘s gardens. They had obviously been loved and well cared-for but just needed a few helping hands. Afterwards, we planted a lilac bush that was a holdover from a client last year (not pictured). We’re all caught up now and actively looking for more clients and gardens to help…reach out! Special thanks to the Fairfield County Master Gardener Volunteers - OSU Extension for their partnership and to Three Dog Blooms for the amazing arrangements that bring the healing touch of flowers indoors for our clients.
