Stay Well!
Here at Generative Health, we are cleaning and keeping up to date on the current recommendations both from the state, federal, and Chinese medicine community.
We are currently asking that you let us know ahead of time, if you have been exposed or have symptoms before coming in. We are offering current patients the opportunity to schedule short free Naturopathic phone consults (https://square.site/appointments/book/7GPNQ3R659T1Y/generative-health-llc-lancaster-pa) if they have concerns or need recommendations for immune support.
I have been getting a lot of questions about the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and have been keeping uptodate with information for health care providers, so I am sending out a short note to my patients, feel free to pass it on.
What you can do
Wash your hands
Notice, I didn't say sanitize. Soap is amazing against viruses and the act of hand washing for 10-20s with soap is usually preferred over hand sanitizer. On the go, hand-wipe cloths with either soap or alcohol are better than gel alone.
If you need to or choose to make your own sanitizer or use alcohol directly on your skin, please use Ethanol (drinking alcohol), which is safer for your body. Commercial products do not use isopropanol (rubbing alcohol). Ethanol should be 60% or greater (120 proof) rum and grain alcohol are the most available. You can simple substitute this into one of the many recipes online. Consider adding a small amount of thyme essential oil if you have it, it is a strong antiviral, but not safe for digestion as an essential oil.
Know when to avoid contact
Avoid crowds and places with known cases
According to the state website (https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/Pages/Coronavirus.aspx) , as of 3pm March 12th, in Pennsylvania (https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/Pages/Coronavirus.aspx) the majority of confirmed cases are in Montgomery county surrounding areas (Bucks, Delaware, Monroe, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Wayne). If you live in one of those areas be especially watchful for cold-like symptoms, and avoid going places unless necessary.
None in Lancaster county at the moment.
Zinc lozenges
These concentrate high doses of zinc in your upper respiratory region, and have been suggested to be of some use in reducing your risk of contracting COVID-19.
