Orthopedic fractures have tons of eponyms! An orthopedic fracture eponym is a fracture that was named and discovered by a surgeon! Knowing these eponyms on an orthopedic rotation will make you really shine on an orthopedic rotation as a medical student or intern!

Open ankle fractures are not just “broken bones”—they are complex, high-energy injuries with serious soft tissue implications.

When the ankle is exposed through the skin, the challenges go far beyond the fracture itself:
• Soft tissue damage: skin, tendons, and ligaments are often severely compromised
• Fracture blisters & wound issues: a sign of significant swelling and skin injury that can delay or complicate surgery
• Infection risk: one of the most critical early concerns
• Swelling & vascular compromise: can make timing of surgery extremely delicate
• Cartilage injury: often underestimated at presentation

Even after successful fixation, the journey isn’t over:
• Post-traumatic arthritis is common due to cartilage damage at the time of injury
• Stiffness, chronic pain, and swelling can persist long term
• Recovery is often measured in months—not weeks

These injuries require meticulous timing, careful soft tissue management, and often staged treatment to optimize outcomes.

In orthopedics, the fracture is only part of the story—the soft tissue envelope often determines everything! With Pt permission!

Bilateral Joint Replacement. One Recovery. Maximum Impact.

For the right patient, simultaneous bilateral hip or knee replacement can be life-changing.

Using the direct anterior approach for hip replacement, we’re able to perform surgery through a muscle-sparing interval—meaning:
• Less soft tissue disruption
• Faster early recovery
• Improved stability with lower dislocation risk
• More natural-feeling movement

When combined with bilateral surgery, patients benefit from:
• One anesthesia, one hospital stay
• One rehab timeline—not two
• Faster return to normal life
• Symmetrical recovery (no “good side vs bad side”)

The same philosophy applies to bilateral knee replacements—restoring alignment, function, and quality of life in a single setting.

This approach isn’t for everyone—but in carefully selected patients, it’s a powerful, efficient, and transformative option.

Precision. Experience. Outcomes.

Not every hip pain after a replacement means something is wrong with the joint itself.

In this case, this patient had a previous direct anterior hip replacement and is now dealing with trochanteric bursitis a common but often frustrating source of pain on the outside of the hip.

While this condition is seen far more often in women, men can absolutely experience it too… and when they do, it can linger if not properly treated.

Today, Dr. Antebi is targeting the source with a precise injection to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and get him back to moving comfortably again.

Because sometimes it’s not about the implant
it’s about everything surrounding it.

Pain has a reason.
And with the right diagnosis, there’s always a path forward.

Happy National Doctors Day! Today is the day that we get recognized for what we do on a daily basis! Being in practice for 20 years now and seeing how medicine and surgery has changed so much, makes me hopeful for the future as an orthopedic surgeon! A lot of it has to do with the innovation and hard work from physicians of all specialties from around the world!

There’s a rhythm inside the OR that most people never see.

Every movement is intentional. Every step is timed. Every hand knows exactly where to be.

It’s not just surgery, it’s a synchronized dance.

A team of highly trained professionals moving as one, surgeon, techs, nurses, all locked in and focused on a single purpose, restoring quality of life.

Because behind every incision is a person who wants to walk without pain, move freely again, and get back to living.

There is an art to this.
A precision.
A discipline.
A responsibility.

And when it all comes together, it’s not only powerful, it’s beautiful.

This is what it looks like when passion meets purpose.

MOST PEOPLE AGE WRONG! Aging isn’t the problem. THIS IS 👉 Inactivity, poor diet, lack of resistance training, and no consistency with a regiment!

Not every diabetic foot ulcer is just an infection.

Behind a chronic wound can be:
• Limb-threatening infection
• Or squamous cell carcinoma

Recognize it early. Treat it aggressively. Biopsy when in doubt.

Not every appointment is just about diagnosis… sometimes it’s about clarity, trust, and truly being heard.

In this consultation, Dr. Antebi walks his patient step-by-step through the anterior hip replacement breaking down the procedure, what happens during surgery, and what recovery really looks like after.

Because when patients understand the why, the how, and the what to expect… everything changes.

The anterior approach can mean:
• Less muscle disruption
• Faster recovery time
• Fewer restrictions post-op

But what matters most isn’t just the technique it’s taking the time to answer every question, address every concern, and make sure the patient feels confident moving forward.

This is what patient-centered care looks like. 👏

Alon Antebi, D.O.

“I developed a passion for fixing things at a very early age which eventually lead me to my passion as an orthopedic surgeon. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else!”

Dr. Antebi is a top ranked board-certified physician who graduated in the top 5% of his class at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine and fellowship trained in orthopedic trauma at Tampa General Hospital.

Dr. Antebi has quickly become one of the most sought-after surgeons in the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and San Fernando Valley and is consulted by many respected surgeons in the community to take on complex trauma and joint reconstruction cases. Dr. Antebi is known for not only performing complex joint replacements and revising failed ones but also for his expertise in orthopedic traumatic injuries. He is the only orthopedic surgeon in the Antelope, Santa Clarita, and San Fernando valleys that specializes in pelvic and acetabulum fractures. Patients are transferred from hospitals throughout these valleys to his care because he is the only surgeon who takes on these complex injuries as well as many other orthopedic traumas.

Dr. Antebi is the first orthopedic surgeon to bring the anterior hip replacement to the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys. The anterior approach is a minimally invasive hip replacement referred to as a muscle sparing surgery because no muscles are cut to access the joint enabling faster recovery and quicker return to normal activity. Dr. Antebi is a pioneer in outpatient total joint replacements in the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys using this anterior approach. He has had many successful outpatient joint replacements with patients walking and being discharged home within 4-6 hours. Dr. Antebi is committed to returning his patients to full activity in the least amount of time possible.
