π¨πͺοΈ Statewide Tornado Drill β Today at 11:00 AM πͺοΈπ¨
Good morning, Schuyler County!
Today at 11:00 AM, communities across Missouri β including right here at home β will participate in the Statewide Tornado Drill.
If you hear the sirens this morning, donβt be alarmed. This is only a test. Itβs an opportunity for our families, schools, businesses, and emergency responders to practice what we would do during severe weather.
π A Quick Reminder About Sirens
What many people call βtornado sirensβ are actually Outdoor Warning Sirens. They are designed to alert people who are outdoors to seek shelter.
They are not meant to wake you up or be your only warning inside your home.
π±π» Make sure your household has multiple ways to receive weather alerts:
β’ NOAA Weather Radio
β’ Local weather apps
β’ TV or radio broadcasts
π©οΈ Know the Difference: Watch vs. Warning
π‘ Tornado Watch β Conditions are favorable. Stay alert and be prepared.
π΄ Tornado Warning β A tornado has been detected or reported. Seek shelter immediately.
Today is a great time to:
βοΈ Review your familyβs severe weather plan
βοΈ Identify your safe shelter area
βοΈ Check weather alert settings on your phone
βοΈ Talk with your kids about what to do
At Schuyler County Ambulance District, your safety is our priority. Prepared communities are safer communities β and drills like today help protect all of us.
Stay safe, stay prepared, Schuyler County. π
