We receive frequent phone calls inquiring about earlobe repair. Whether the patient has pierced ears and the piercing has stretched or torn all of the way through, or patients have had gauge piercing, and they are looking to resume to their original lobe.

Typically, in both cases, our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Jason Lichten, can repair the lobes in the office with a fairly simple procedure done with local anesthetic.

There are instances when insurance may cover the cost of the procedure, but typical cost is generally $500 for the first ear and an additional $350 for the second ear. Gauge repair starts at $1400, depending on the degree of correction needed.

Additionally, there are instances when drooping earlobes may be treated with filler to restore the lost volume in the earlobe, plumping it up to add more support for earrings.

As for re-piercing, patients are a candidate for that generally 3 months post procedure.
