What do you do when the person bullying your child is also their friend?

I’ve been on all sides of this—sometimes my boys have been the ones hurt, and occasionally they’ve been the ones causing the hurt. It’s never simple. I’ve had many conversations with parents and educators about how to navigate these tricky situations, and I’ve witnessed some truly masterful interventions by my kids’ teachers.

So how do we help kids stand up for themselves while also recognizing that friendships can be messy? How do we guide them in setting boundaries, repairing relationships, and knowing when to walk away?
