As a bodyworker, if you don’t know how to ground, you’ll be trying to “fix” people with shaky hands and a loud nervous system.
This right here is the prerequisite — the background work — so when I touch a body, I’m not forcing… I’m flowing.

Breath → posture → intention → energy.
That’s how a stretch becomes a release.
That’s how your hands stop working hard and start working smart.
That’s how you move energy through every technique like water — smooth, present, powerful.

🧞‍♂️✨ This is a perfect example of why preparation matters before you ever stretch a muscle. In this clip, you’re watching Ike work with a client who has severe lower back issues using deep compressions — and this is not about force, it’s about communication. Deep compressions are how you introduce pressure to the muscle, let the tissue know what’s coming, and begin creating space before movement is added. Ike’s size, positioning, and hand placement allow him to distribute weight intentionally, not aggressively, even though the position looks unorthodox. Climbing onto the table, grounding through the client’s back, syncing with her breath — this is how you calm the nervous system, soften resistance, and prepare the body to receive the stretch safely. This is the work before the work, and without it, real lower back relief doesn’t happen. 🤲🏾🫁🦴✨

She told me she hasn’t been able to lay on her back and rest in over 10 years without pain.

Read that again.

That’s not “tight hips.” That’s a body that’s been living in protection mode for a decade—hips locked, low back gripping, rotation gone… and pain becoming her normal.

So in this Atlanta Stretch Masterclass session, I’m not just “pulling on a hamstring.”

I’m creating space.

✅ Hamstring stretch to open the chain
✅ Scooping + distracting the hip flexor to decompress the front of the hip
✅ That opens access to the posterior hip, which lets the low back finally stop overworking
✅ And when the hip stops clamping down… rotation returns… the low back calms down… and the body can breathe again

After the session she lays back… and says she feels NO pain.

When I tell a client to “open up their body,” I’m talking about creating space so everything can work together the way it’s supposed to. If you’re carrying extra weight and only lifting heavy, you’re closing the body down and overusing the same muscles. I had to tell my client to leave the weights alone for a few months and focus on stretching, light movement, and activating muscles he hasn’t been using. That process allows the body to release, realign, and naturally lose weight so that when it’s time to lift again, every muscle can participate — not just a few doing all the work. I had to step away, confront my fears, my pain, and my truth, and go through a deeply personal healing experience that changed the way I see myself and the world. That journey taught me that you can’t guide someone to a place you’ve never been. As healers, our energy, our awareness, and our presence matter just as much as our technique.
