Unless you're 90 years old ...

Or a baby.

But a normal adult needs more.

I'm 42 and 150 pounds and moderately active- and I need 2000 calories (at least).

Anyone who gives a blanket statement without knowing much about you (your health history, sleep habits, activity level, etc) should not be doing that, ever.

Nutrition recommendations should be based on the individual with a lot of background.

What's a piece of advice you've received that was completely out of touch?!?

Food can be fun!!!

Ingredients:
2.5 cups heavy whipping cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
Splash of vanilla
Salt for the snow

Mix!

The kids enjoyed eating it!!! I want to try a different recipe next time, but it was easy, and fun!

For example, I've heard people say:

-- you should go gluten free for "stomach issues"

--beef tallow is so much better for you

--you need to go organic, the other stuff is poison

--fruit has too much sugar in it (still! How has this not gone away yet)

--1200 calories is more than enough

And so many more wrong statements.

People can choose what they think is best for them, but don't push it on other people, or make them feel guilty for what they choose. We're all just trying to do our best.

Ask a professional!! Who in turn will gather information about you (health, lifestyle, schedule, likes, dislikes, etc) and make personalized recommendations that you work through together, because even if you have the best of intentions, some might work (for me that's a bedtime routine right now, still can't get it to stick).

Comment below with the wildest nutrition advice you've heard!

Comment with your guess!!!

Let's break it down:

🍳: 0 grams of fiber
🍞: 3 grams per slice = 6 grams
🍎: 1 apple about 4 grams (this is a medium)
🫐: 4 grams per cup, this is 1/2 a cup = 2 grams

12 grams total

Most people only get about 10-12 grams of fiber per day.

The daily recommendation for fiber is 25 grams a day for women and 35 for men. Or more specifically 14 grams per 1,000 calories. For me, eating 2000 calories per day, that's 28 grams MINIMUM!!!

So, this was a great start to my day.

♥️ if you do any of these!!!

And comment 🎉 if you do more than 1!

Personally I follow 1 and 3 religiously.

#2 I need to work on. A serving of nuts or seeds a day is shown to really help heart health and directly impact your cholesterol levels in a good way!

What tips do you have!?

Biting my tongue....

Does nutrition solve everything?.....hahhaha no.

But it really does help to take a look at what you're currently eating and be honest

Can you make any changes?
Eating a little more (especially in the morning)

Adding fruits and veggies

Filing up on fiber

Meal planning

Cutting back on animal protein

Adding in walks

Strength training

These things can help with: heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep, weight, blood sugar control, Perimenopause, GI issues, mood, longevity....and so much more.

BUT I'm not gonna say anything.....

These are not good or bad...

They are options.

Options for people who are trying better balance their macros (carbs/protein/fats) and are just starting out. A clear label and serving size is easier than an apple (no label!) as an example.

Options for busy people who can't make everything from scratch.

Options for people who aren't skilled in the kitchen...

They're just options. Ideally, they don't make up your entire diet, but sprinkling them in here or there can help!

Do you use prepackaged foods (for macros or otherwise)? Why? Drop a comment below!

Mine is time/culinary skills- I'm not making goldfish crackers from scratch, or yogurt. That isn't going to end well for anyone.
