This past weekend, Team Meadowood joined the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Philadelphia. We’re so proud to share that our team, led by our Director of Life Enrichment, Tracy Paredes, raised over $11,000 to support the Alzheimer's Association!

A heartfelt thank you to all the staff, residents, and family members who purchased a t-shirt, donated, and walked alongside us. Your support helps bring us one step closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.

Good news, it’s not too late to make a difference, team donations are still being accepted! Donate Here: https://act.alz.org/site/TR?team_id=940072&pg=team&fr_id=18853

📣 Team Meadowood, Captain Spotlight ✨
"I have both personal and professional reasons to walk. My Grandmother had Alzheimer's Disease; she passed away quite some time ago and I have worked in healthcare communities for the past 13+ years. Looking back, I wish I had some of the professional knowledge I have now when I was interacting with my Grandmother as a teenager. That is why I am committed to Dementia Education, Research and Caregiver Support; all things the Walk to End Alzheimer's supports!" - Tracy

Learning from one another! 📚

Earlier this week, our residents hosted the Montco CCRC Consortium, providing an opportunity for area life plan communities' resident associations to share knowledge and inquire about features and activities on a triannual basis.

🐾 A Wild Day at Elmwood Park Zoo! 🦒

Earlier this month, our Health Center residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to Elmwood Park Zoo! From observing some hungry goats to spotting the playful otters, everyone had a fantastic time taking in the sights, sunshine, and smiles. 🌞🐘

It’s always such a joy to see our residents out and about, making new memories together! ❤️

Flügel Fest took center stage at Meadowood this September for what is now a three-day community favorite event featuring competitions, raffles, crafts, food, and fun that bring together residents and staff.

But what’s a "flügel," you may ask?
You’re not alone. Many people at Meadowood asked that same question.

Flügel actually means “wing” in German, which is quite appropriate, considering that Meadowood’s symbol was the goose, and the community also awards “wings” to team members for exceptional customer service.

In September, Meadowood’s Board Member Dr. Ilene Warner-Maron hosted a conversation on “Aging in Place.” It was a powerful discussion with engaging Q&A on aging, care options and living at Meadowood.

Dr. Warner-Maron reminded us that caregivers need their “oxygen-mask” first, self-care keeps everyone safer. She explored how homes can become barriers with stairs, bathrooms, and isolation. While community living offers support, safety, and a robust social calendar that support individuals that are aging at different rates.

Thank you to everyone who asked thoughtful questions about memory care, nutrition, finances, and support for spouses.
