Happy 250th birthday to the U.S. Navy! Since before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, sailors have been defending America by water. After the Revolutionary War, Congress disbanded the Navy briefly before reestablishing it permanently in 1790.

Every year, ~ 15,000 Veterans are diagnosed and treated at VA for prostate cancer, and over 200,000 Veterans are prostate cancer survivors. Veterans are more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than the public, so it’s crucial to get screened when the time is right. Talk to your provider to see if screening is right for you, especially if you are a Black man, have a family history of prostate cancer or were exposed to Agent Orange. Some men should begin talking to their healthcare provider about prostate cancer in their mid-40s to figure out if they may be at increased risk.
