At some point, we’ve gotten stuck in constantly emotionally word vomiting and completely ignoring the regulating process. If you’re trying to change your health, this is where it needs to start.

This is how you actually regulate stress. Learn the difference between a just emotional outburst and actually being able to bring yourself out of that emotional state and back to a baseline.

Hint: if you’re stuck still saying phrases like “ALL blank are this.” Or “EVERYONE has felt this.” Or “this ALWAYS happens to me,” these are not logical phrases. These are emotionally charged ones because those statements showcase 0% chance of variability.

I think this can’t be stated enough. Everyone is trying to do more and your lives are crazy chaotic and busy. I hear this all the time of feeling like no one has the time to cook.

But here’s the thing…Cooking and preparing food is at the most basic level, the highest level of self care you can do for yourself. You’re literally taking the time to nourish your body and showing to yourself that you recognize the importance of doing so.

So if you don’t have the time to cook, then how on earth do you have time to heal and change your body composition when the very thing your body needs, you don’t feel like you can give it??

It’s not about adding more in. Most people don’t need more complexity. If you notice yourself saying “I just don’t have time,” there’s a lot of stress sitting within that statement.

It’s time to slow down and actually remove and simplify.

Here’s what I generally see: you act once you are diagnosed with a serious problem. Then all of a sudden, you are reading all the labels, researching, exercising, meditating, meal prepping, etc. But until that diagnosis hits, you aren’t doing any of those things.

And my thought is, if you would immediately jump to those things once you receive a diagnosis, then there is an underlying belief in those things actually helping.

So, what’s stopping you from doing them now? Start now.

You saying yes to that question tells me that you’re not fully happy or confident in the choices you’re currently making.

If you can recognize what your kid needs and find a way to care for those needs, then at what point are you going to do the same for yourself? Your needs are no different than theirs. It’s not about just self sacrificing to give them everything, while completely draining and losing yourself in the process.

You can actually thrive and feel good all through parenthood.

But you can’t completely ignore your body for years and then just expect it to function optimally once your kids are grown and you’ve finally decided that you have time to work out and eat better.

It starts in the chaos. As your kids are learning and growing, so can you.

Seek boredom and consistency first and foremost. This should always be your foundation. Craziness and unpredictability then comes in periodically.

Not all the time.

We are routine oriented and feel the most safe and comfortable within some aspect of organization and routine.

Stop treating food any differently. You need a routine with food. You need consistency and stability within a food schedule and the foods you’re eating.

Stress levels are higher than I feel like I’ve ever seen. But I see a trend where when someone is stressed, you are too overwhelmed to even think about food. So food gets shoved to the back burner and ignored. Instead, you grab more and more stimulants trying to make it through.

The answer though is food. Food can help you better handle the stress you are facing. You need food. Your cells need that nourishment to keep going.

I see this all the time. We are always trying to game the system. How can I get everything I want by doing as little as possible to make it happen?

The person who tries to game losing weight or changing body composition can’t get very far because you can only game things for so long. Food is only one piece of the puzzle. You can’t think the same thoughts, live in the same habits and patterns and somehow expect to see real change.

If you want to truly change how you look, it requires change on multiple levels-not just the physical shell of your body. You have to change how you see yourself, your thoughts, your everyday habits to become this new version of yourself.

Otherwise you will just see-saw back and forth between the old you and this “new” version that’s still the same. Become different. 🦎
