Please join us in welcoming our new Administrator, Emilee Lantis, to Medilodge of Lansing! 💙

A traditional headshot wouldn’t truly capture who Emilee is—because she’s not one to stand on the sidelines. She works side by side with our team, rolling up her sleeves and embracing the daily grind of this industry to help create a better environment for both staff and residents.

Emilee is hardworking, thorough, honest, and compassionate. She pays close attention to the little details to ensure everyone feels safe, supported, and well cared for. She leads with both her head and her heart, consistently showing genuine care for our team. From thoughtful gestures to everyday appreciation, her kindness does not go unnoticed.

Great leadership is built on communication, integrity, vision, and emotional intelligence—and Emilee brings all of these qualities to our community. She has already inspired our team at Medilodge of Lansing to strive to be better than yesterday, grow stronger today, and continue our commitment to being a 5-star facility.

💙 What an Incredible Day at the Senior Expo! 💙

We had such a fantastic time at the Senior Expo—the turnout was amazing! It was truly a pleasure connecting with so many wonderful people from the Okemos, East Lansing, Lansing, campus, and Capital Area communities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to chat, learn more about what we do, and share your stories with us—we appreciate each and every one of you!

We’re already looking forward to the next event and hope to see even more familiar and new faces. Until then, thank you again for making this expo such a great success! 💐

Today, the MediLodge of Lansing team is showing support for Colon Cancer Awareness by wearing blue. 💙

While there is no guaranteed way to prevent colon cancer, certain lifestyle choices can help reduce risk. Studies suggest that taking a multivitamin with folic acid and vitamin D may be beneficial. Avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol, maintaining a healthy weight, and staying active can also lower risk.

Regular screenings are key—getting a colonoscopy after age 50 and following up with your family doctor routinely are important steps in early detection and prevention.

Let’s raise awareness together and take steps toward better colon health!

👋 Say hello to David!

David is the President of the Residents Council here at MediLodge of Lansing. He is also a Navy Veteran, having mastered navigation, meteorology, and ship handling. David has been a long-term resident in Lansing for several years and today shared an incredible story from his time at sea.

He told me about the moment when the barometer on his ship dropped suddenly. I said, “Bad weather is coming,” and he replied, “Absolutely.” Looking through the radar lens, David spotted a huge white line about 100 miles away. He immediately called the captain and the ship navigator to the deck. Pointing at the radar, he said: “Tsunami.”

The team had just one hour to prepare. Everything on deck had to be secured, and the crew had to move to their general quarters. The captain navigated the ship by riding the wave—up and down—calculating timing perfectly. David recalled, “If anyone ever tells you they are not afraid, they are lying.” The tsunami reached 100 feet high, but through precise strategy and his training as a master ship handler, David helped save his ship, crew, and even hundreds of people in other countries.

MediLodge of Lansing is incredibly proud to have veterans like David as part of our community. Thank you, David, for your service and for sharing your story.

Today, David is doing restoration care with Vickie, one of our long-time CNAs whom we affectionately call “Mama.” When I asked David about the team here at MediLodge of Lansing, he said:
"They know me, they understand me, and they care about me and others." 💛

We have some special Activity Aides here at Medilodge of Lansing! They take the time to play games, paint, color, and participate in whatever is on the activity calendar for the day.

Today on our Lakes Unit, Yahtzee was on the agenda, and our residents had a great time rolling the dice and enjoying the fun together! 🎲😊
