1: The "six week check-up" isn't the end of postpartum. It's just the start of your body beginning to recover. Something to keep in mind : Your healing isn't on a timeline, it's on *your time.
2. It can take 6-18 months (or more) for hormones to regulate. Hormones like estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, prolactin, and oxytocin all shift dramatically during pregnancy, birth, and recovery.
3. Your nervous system is rewiring. You're not just tired, you're biologically rewired to respond to our baby. Your brain literally changes in the postpartum period to become more responsive, protective, and emotionally tuned in. That's not weakness. That’s evolution.
4. It's not just about physical recovery. It's hormonal, emotional, psychological, relational, spiritual. You’re not “behind.” You’re in a sacred, slow unfolding.
5. If you’re nursing, hormones like prolactin and oxytocin stay elevated — often suppressing estrogen.
This can affect everything from sleep to libido to anxiety levels. Your body is still working overtime — even if no one can see it.
6. Postpartum support shouldn’t stop at the baby shower.
You still need rest. Nourishment. Emotional validation. Hormonal support. Community.
