Earlier today, MAC Chairman of the Board Dr. Robert Markle (left) and Assistant Director Tim Gaughan (right) met with two important members of the House Insurance Committee, Majority Vice Chair Mark Tisdel (R-Rochester Hills) and state Rep. Sarah Lightner (R-Springport), on House Bill 5478, the MAC-developed chargeback bill. Rep. Tisdel represents the 55th House District, which is located in Oakland County and includes Rochester, Rochester Hills, and part of Oakland Charter Township. Rep. Lightner represents the 45th District, which includes parts of Calhoun, Jackson, and Kalamazoo counties. Thanks, Rep. Tisdel and Rep. Earlier today, MAC Assistant Director Tim Gaughan attended an event for state Senator Michael Webber (R-Rochester Hills), a key member of the Michigan Senate’s Health Policy Committee. Sen. Webber represents the 9th Senate District, which is located in Oakland and Macomb counties, including Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Utica, as well as parts of Troy, Oakland Township, Shelby Township, and Sterling Heights. Throughout his time in the Michigan Legislature, Sen. Webber has advocated for policies that strengthen behavioral health systems, expand prevention and treatment resources, reduce barriers to care, and improve the lives of people living with mental health and substance use conditions.

With the Winter Olympics starting tonight, take a look back at the history of chiropractic at the Olympic Games. Did you know that the first official US Olympic team chiropractor was Dr. George Goodheart, who practiced in Detroit and Grosse Pointe for more than 60 years? Dr. Goodheart served at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

The current ABN Form CMS-R-131 was set to expire on January 31, 2026. CMS is actively developing the updated version of the form. Once the new ABN form is finalized, CMS will announce its release on its website, along with any related implementation guidance. Providers should continue using the existing ABN form until further instructions are issued.

The MAC Insurance Relations team will monitor events and inform you once the new form is finalized. Stay tuned!
