You'll never feel safe in a space filled with people who expect you to negotiate your value according to how well you serve them and their own narratives.
Taking simple steps to assert your boundaries and needs and choosing not to lower them is essential in personal growth. When you've been raised by people who had also experienced trauma, you learn early in life to tell yourself 'you're not special ' 'you don't deserve anything good because you didn't....' 'nobody cares about you ' 'you should be seen and not heard' or any other toxic narratives we have on repeat. We repair this by having a dialog each time, reprogramming ourselves to speak love into us rather than self loathing. I personally feel like the best revenge to toxic parents is becoming a happy healthy human despite their attempts to destroy you. Let's heal together!!

Sad reality. Not all parents are given the tools to parent. It takes so much more than an egg and s***m. I started life with a very large family. Now at 43, I have my husband and my children. Over 100 family members and every single one of them choose to feed the false narrative (trauma taught them) and I just pray that they too can find the way out of it.

Seeing a lot of 'I'm healed, so you better step up' and it reminds me of a couple of years ago when I thought I was all done healing. It doesn't end, we're healing all the way until we're called home. We're not better than anyone else, we're just all at a different point of the same exact road.
