Care Free Medical has reopened in Lansing after a temporary closure caused by flooding.

We are excited to share that we have moved into our new location, 1115 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Suite 101, Lansing, MI 48912.

While we are busy furnishing the new location and completing renovations, we have begun seeing patients in-person.

Two nights ago, there was a massive flood in the building we have been leasing for the last 7 years, after pipes froze and burst.

The good news is that the lease is expiring in January and we had already been making plans to move by then. The flood has forced us to expedite the move and we are pleased to report we will be reopening at our new location within 2 weeks!

Our new address will be: 1115 S Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48912. The clinic at that address was most recently used by the Ingham County Health Department.

Our support staff is working from home returning messages and calls. Our providers are conducting video visits and will continue to do so until we reopen later this month.

The building houses the nonprofit Care Free Medical, which said patient files and some medications are still inside and can't be removed.

Dear Care Free patients,

If you have not yet heard, the air conditioning in the building we are leasing has stopped working. On top of that, the elevator is currently also not working. We have been in daily communication with the building’s owner to try to speed up the process of getting those things resolved. However, we have been working remotely (doing video visits) from home over the past 3 weeks because without air conditioning, especially in the afternoons, the temperature in the building can exceed 90 degrees.

Starting tomorrow, July 17th, we will attempt to return to in-person visits for the morning shift (8 AM to 1230 PM) and then continue video visits for the afternoon. Our hope is that the temperature inside the building during the morning hours will be tolerable enough for us to be able to provide the care that you need and deserve.

A return to in-person visits in the morning hours will also allow our staff to get caught up on things like voicemails, faxes, and other paperwork.

Please accept our apologies for the extreme inconvenience that the last few weeks has caused you and please know that while we do not own the building, we are doing everything we can to work with the building’s owner to come up with a solution.

Our phone lines are still on even when we are working from home – the office calls are forwarded to the cell phones of our staff members. Please do not hesitate to call us or send us a message through the myChart portal if there is anything we can do to help you during this difficult time.
