Important Reminder:

Check your email! The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) is inviting you to take part in the 2024 Music Therapy Workforce Survey. This year’s survey was redesigned with the goal of better reflecting the realities of your work and gathering meaningful data that will help advance the profession.

Your name and email address were acquired from the Certification Board for Music Therapists. You may opt out of future research, education, and professional emails by confirming your preference online through your CBMT account.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will be open until Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Your input is essential, and we appreciate your time and responses. For additional information refer to the email and remember to check your spam/junk folder if you did not receive it.

Be sure to share this information with your MT-BC friends and colleagues. Lets get as many responses as possible. Remember every MT-BC is encouraged to complete the survey regardless of current membership status.

Thank you for contributing to the future of music therapy.

Hello Fellow Music Therapists and Community Supporters:

URGENT: Help Protect Access to Music Therapy in Indiana!

Your voice is needed NOW to ensure that individuals who depend on music therapy continue to receive the support they need. There is a proposal to limit allowable hours for Music Therapy to just 6 hours per month. This would significantly restrict opportunities for individuals to participate in community-based events, join music therapy groups, and receive person-centered care.

Why This Matters:

Capping the music therapy budget may restrict individual choice, limit access to needed services, and reduce opportunities for community integration.
Such limits undermine the person-centered planning process, which is designed to tailor supports to each individual’s unique needs and goals.

Your Opportunity to Make a Difference:

Public notice and comment occur prior to submitting amendments to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), ensuring everyone can share thoughts, concerns, or questions about the proposed amendments. See proposed amendments here: https://www.in.gov/fssa/ddrs/ddrs-policies/ddrs-draft-policies-for-public-comment/

The public comment period is open from July 9 through August 8, 2025, with a projected effective date for these amendments of December 2025.

What You Can Do:

Speak up and urge the state to reject proposed limits on music therapy services. You can find example comments here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FW6julvRfYSP6J-HhhfWKU-UE7gMm4ZkP8wwA3dYT0k/edit?tab=t.0

Submit your public comment prior to August 8th here: DDRSwaivernoticecomment@fssa.IN.gov
Share this message widely with your networks, colleagues, and families.

Together, we can make a difference. Let’s ensure that everyone has the support and opportunities they need!
