Douglas Snyder, born on October 1, 1960, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2025, at Northwest Health-Porter. He leaves behind a legacy of passion and creativity that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Douglas was an exceptional guitarist, known for his talent and love for music. Over the years, he played with several bands, sharing his gift with numerous audiences and friends. His musical journey was a significant part of his life, showcasing not only his skill but also his dedication to the art form.
In addition to his musical talents, Douglas was an avid gun collector who enjoyed shooting practice. This hobby brought him joy and challenged him, reflecting his adventurous spirit. He found immense happiness in being outdoors and cherished the time spent playing horseshoes with family and friends, a pastime that brought laughter and camaraderie to the gatherings he hosted.
Douglas had a deep affection for animals, particularly dogs. He reveled in their company, often playing and bonding with them, which illuminated his warm-hearted nature. Doug also served his country in the Air Force.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Scott; brother, Michael (Kris Martin) Snyder; sister, Fay Snyder; and grandchildren, Emma Rose Snyder, Zacharia, and Atticus, nephews Jeff (Henny) Snyder, Matt (April) Snyder, Jon Snyder, Adam Snyder, and nieces Nicole (Allen) Santana and Melissa Jones as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Grenfal and Donnabell N., and his brother, Russell Joseph, and niece Johnny Jones-Van Schoyck.
Douglas's memory will live on through the many lives he touched with his music, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will carry forward the joyous moments shared with him.
Arrangements entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Ave. La Porte, IN 46350. The family has chosen cremation and will plan a memorial gathering at a later time.
